I am looking to getting into selling Timeshares...?

and plan to move to the Myrtle Beach, Sc area after the first of the year. Does anyone have any idea what requirements there are to become a timeshare salesperson. I do have considerable sales experience in Insurance as well as a customer service degree from our local community college. I am quite excited at the thought of starting a new career on this path and any thoughts, guidance, leads, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! OK< any alternatives for me if I am looking to get into sales and am desperate to move to the beach?

  1. The economy is heading toward a recession, which means the average consumer will have less money to spend on unnecessary items. The potential pool of customers for a timeshare has greatly diminished over the past year. I think the time for selling timeshares has come and gone. Just look at all the realtors out there that are now fighting for jobs as waiters for an example of how a booming market can crash.
  2. Most timeshares get sold as part of tour trips that people supposedly win. As part of the trip they are required to sit in a 3 hour lecture (presentation) about timeshares and pressured into buying one. People do NOT like being lied to or pressured. And as the first answer said - people no longer have "Discretionary" money to spend on timeshares.
  3. Well, customer service does help but at the end of the day is sales. You said you have experience in sales that should help to get you started, you know as a sales person you will make as much money as you will allow yourself to make. As long as people vacation there will always be a market for timeshare. The requirements are very simple, and they provide all the training necessary. There are two big differences from a timeshare salesperson to an insurance sales person: $$$ you will get paid way more to close a deal in timeshare than to sale an insurance. Here is the problem, as an insurance salesperson people wants to talk to you, they need your product and got to your promises on their own will. As a timeshare sales person, people don't want to talk to you, they have been " bribed " to be there, most likely that couple that you will have in front of you will make a " pact " the night before the presentation ( the pact is that they will not buy anything no matter what ), you have to close the deal in one presentation ( remember people do not live there they are on vacation ) and last but not least you only have 90 minutes to do that . Bottom line. If you are good at it you can make over $150,000 a year If you are not $0 Good luck
