- Some URLs of sites relating to your questions: http://forums.awn.com/showthread.php?t=798 ( a forum dealing with Indian animation companies ), http://animation.about.com/od/industryprofiles/Profiles_of_Major_Names_in_the_Animation_Industry.htm ( an About page looking at the animation industry in general ). One of the most common 2-D computer animation programs is Flash ( http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ ), while 3-D software is overviewed at this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_computer_graphics_software. The 3-D one called Maya ( http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=7635018 ) is generally agreed to be the closest to studio quality and proportionally the hardest to learn (so obviously a somewhat marketable skill if you do!) As for animation courses... that's a pretty young world at the moment (in the past, people mostly made everything up as they went along, and that's still what's happening at the outer limits of the computer side of things), but here are some schools to check out: http://www.animationschoolreview.com/all-animation-schools.html On a depressing-ish side note, pretty much all the schools and companies in question deal exclusively with CGI, not cel or stop-motion (heck, even Disney is in that group).Fortunately, there are some programs to help in that arena too, like iStopMotion ( http://www.istopmotion.com/ ) and I Can Animate ( http://www.kudlian.net/products/icananimate/ ) -- but you'll also need a DV (Digital Video) camera, probably in NTSC format. I'm afraid I can't help in the cel department, but hopefully the other links can get you partway there.
