New Real Estate Career in Michigan?
I am in the first stages of considering a career in Real Estate in Michigan. I have been told by various employers and co-workers that i have what it takes to make it, whatever that is, lol. I am hoping for a REALTOR here in MI to give me some info on what it takes to get started. EX: Licensing requirements, schooling, costs, etc. Also, are there brokers out there who are willing to help with the schooling/training costs? Serious answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

- Wow, is your timing awful. Whether or not you have skills as a realtor, and I'm sure you may, MIchigan's real estate market right now may be the worst in the country. Think of all the jobs and industries being lost in your area and the amount of empty housing and commercial property in the region. Unless you're in Ann Arbor, where I'm sure there are already a glut of realtors, I'd find another area or state to work from.
- Here is an excellent site for you.
- Go to Holloway.com for info on classes, etc. It is a very good school. There are some brokers that will help you get started with the cost of schooling. Once you pass the 40 hour class you then need to pass the state licensing test. If you have any other questions you can email my wife at ListIt4you@yahoo.com who is a license Realtor in the state of Michigan.
- I have been a full time Realtor in MI since 2001. The link from the state of MI is good. You need a 40 class and to pass a test. What area of the state are you in? If you are in Metro Detroit, I have some ideas for you. I believe a licensing class will cost under $500. You will have a lot of start up costs like signs, business cards, mls dues, association dues, etc. And you will have no income until you sell something. There are regular monthly expenses too for things like insurance. You can contact me if I can answer more questions. maureen(at)maureenfrancis.com -- remove the (at) and insert @
