  1. I wasn't in the Army. I can't tell you the specifics you asked for. But I have several friends who made a career of it. Now they're all retired with a good pention and working for the gov't. These 3 ppl pull down $300 grand now. I wish I would have joined, too.
  2. My deceased boyfriend was a Ranger... God rest his soul. He loved each and every moment of it, everything from pain to the glory. He would have never chose to do anything else military wise. Becoming an Army Ranger is very difficult. But the rewards outweigh the rigors of Ranger School. The time I was with him was the proudest of my life. He was strong, funny, deeply caring, motivated, wise and experienced... all of this he said was because of his years as a Ranger. I think that the pay is decent... but the emotional rewards and respect far outweigh the salary. Beside the hard work, he had so much fun with his comrades during his off time. You should see the pictures and the glow on his face during that time of his life. I admire anyone who serves in the military, but I always hold a special place in my heart for Rangers. RIP Sgt. Robert Torres Reid
  3. The Army isn't a bad place for someone to start out or even make a career. The military provides basic combat training as well as advanced training in a field of your choice (provided you have sufficient qualification.) Pay works like many private employers, you can choose a pay period and they will pay you accordingly. Additional allowances are available for married service members. You can shop at the commisary or px. Infantry is a fairly routine MOS (military occupational specialty,) your advanced training generally consists of infantry training. Infantry comes from the French la infant, because it is the basic unit of the army, you would be the pawn in the program. Ranger training is much more advanced, they are one of the elite groups of the US Army. You would train intensively in different methods of combat, paratrooping, etc. The ultimate combat unit is the Green Berets.
  4. The military is an option and has it's perks and drawbacks( serving in the war) Think about it . Don't let them talk you into something that you aren't absolutely sure of. What about Nursing. There is a nursing shortage and the pay is excellent. Review your options before signing those papers.....
