Personal Training Questions?

I'm interested in persuing a career in Personal Training, but I am told its very hard to survive doing it.. I have about 5 years of personal experiance under my belt and within those 5 years, alot of people/friends learned to respect my knowledge and ask me for advice. I am going to be getting certified through NESTA, and work for a gym, either Ballys or NYSC most likely.. But is it possible to make a good living doing this? Im guessing to do that you need to go independtly after you've built up a clientel list.. Do most people open up a private gym ? If so whats the adverage startup cost on that.. or do most people pay a fee and use a local gym to being clients there? Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Sounds great for a younger person, but I can't see a person doing it in later life. Nobody wants a personal trainer that looks like a prune..
  2. It is hard to survive in any business if you go with this attitude. There is no right or wrong way to start a business. You have to do the footwork to survive. Any business will need a client list thet is where your product or service is going to sell. You can buy a gymor hire a gym or train people intheir office gym or home gym. You had a choice of doing solo or go with a team of nutritionist or message specialist or a hotelier. You can work with special needs pupils in the school or deal with sick people. The first thing is to get your first client and provide the service and the follow up. These are exciting time. 2012 olympic is not far. Go for it and go now.
