Looking for a great Career assessment test?

I simply can not decide what to do next. I have a BS degree in Sociology... and a Paralegal certificate as well. It's gotten me jobs as an Administrative Assistant. (glorified receptionist). Yes, I am glad to have a job, but I am BORED BORED BORED. My boredom is leading to laziness. Did I mention that I am bored? I do try to look for Paralegal work, but they all want experience, but I can't get experience while wasting in an administrative assistant job. I want to figure out a few things... such as.. if I go for a higher degree will I have the same problem? Or would it actually afford me more opportunities? Some things I am considering are Law School.... Masters in Human Resources.... or without the higher degree... teaching... or computers. But I can't decide. All of the above interest me. But I don't want to find myself stuck again. I want to figure out what I will be good at doing... and will not bore me to tears. I am already 34, married, and a mommy.

  1. Well, it looks like you are a bit stuck :( Someone like you with a Paralegal degree should not be working as a `receptionist` for more than a part time job. I know how hard it is to gain your first bit of experience in a world where everyone already wants you to have experience, but there is a way out of the spiral trap: If you get education in a specific area which you are certain interests you and you get highly qualified in one particular field then people will be inclined to take you as their `apprentice` and make something out of you. Before you choose which field you want to specialize in you must think about it very carefully; once you have made your move and gone into specific education there is no going back and choosing something else. I was lucky. Don`t just jump into it: take some time and think about what SPECIFIC job you want to do and then study for it - Good luck!
