Can a stafford loan be used for a career training certificate program a at college or do you have to use it on classes for a degree program?

1. Yes it can be used for a certificate as long as the college is accredited and the certificate requires 12 credits as a minimum to complete. Call the financial department at whatever college you are planning on getting the certificate from, they will be able to give you a definate answer based on your situation.
2. Yes, if your school is listed here and the program you want to attend is long enough. Usually short term training programs like truck driving and a few others are not eligible.
