Does anyone have more info on Police Specialising?

I've been looking into joining the Police. It looks great but I'm finding it hard to find info on different areas I could specialize in later in my career and how it woks etc. All I know so far is that following training and probation you can specialize but only for limited amounts of time I think. Can anyone confirm this and/or help with what areas are available?

  1. My husband is a police officer. He and I have discussed many different options available. There's SRT (special response team), K9, undercover, drug interdiction, accident investigation, homicide, and the list goes on... The best source of information about "specializing" is to go to the department's recruiter. He can tell you exactly what kinds of opportunities are available at that particular department. Oftentimes it's the size of the department that determines how many special teams there are and the requirements you'll need to be on those teams. Most teams require tenure, excellent shooting skills, college degree, and excellent physical shape.
