How to become an adoption agent?
After dating a girl who was a adopted, I saw how much joy a family was brought by that choice and have been interested in adoption since. I think being an adoption agent would be fun. What would I have to major in and what steps would I have to take to become an adoption agent? I know its an unusual career path, but I think it'd be fun. Also, any good adoption agency websites out there that I could email and ask? Thanks!

- I would agree with the other postee that a master's degree in social work can perhaps help you secure such a position (not a guarantee though ;) with an adoption agency. I'm sure that that kind of a job can be very rewarding and fulfilling but that there is also a great amount of stress and drainage as well dealing with such an emotional issue as someone giving up their child for adoption or perhaps if an adoption doesn't go thru or whatnot. I'm just speculating :) Perhaps you can go to a search engine such as www.yahoo.com and type into search "adoption agencies and 'your city and state'" and call some local ones and inquire. Good luck to you, and how wonderful that seeing how happy your girlfriend's family is has inspired you to look into the field!
- First, you should work for an adoption agency and learn the tricks of the trade. This is not like starting a hot dog stand at the ball game. This is very complex !
