- look it up on wikipedia. it's "shakespeare" with an "e" on the end. that might help.
- 1) He never had much of a formal education. 2) 3) "the King's Men." It was changed from "Lord Chamberlain's Men" after the death of Queen Elizabeth, and because King James I gave the company a royal patent. 4) Southwark, 1599. 5) Groundlings were lower-class people who stood on the ground during the plays. Not sure about 1, and don't know 2. But really try Wikipedia. I just had to do all of this for my Lit class a week or so ago.
- hey.. i can somewhat help you with questions 1 & 2..controversy on his education-you have to loook at his contempraries..for instance ben johnson or christopher marlowe were all educated.infact most of his rival playwrights had a university education.marlowe infact went to camebridge.most of his rival were called(marlowe, kyd etc)university wits.there is no record to say that shakespeare had any formal university education.& yet he managed to write plays based on ancient greek & roman legends. Infact ben johnson went to the extent of saying that shakespeare knew little greek & less latin.(this is debated though johnson may have meant it that shakespeare didnt do proper justice to the ancient greek & roman playwrights).. your second question is tough, but this the only rational reason i have, shakespeare during his day wasnt famous.basically he wasnt the household name that hes now.it was marlowe who was the talented & gifted playwright.in the eyes of the elizabethan audience marlowe was beyond anyones comparison(including shakespeare who was a struggling playwright like many of his rivals). To be fair by marlowe,if he hadnot died in that tavern brawl at such a youthful age Shakespeare would never have had the fame he has now.(shakespeares popularity grew in the 17th century).. hope this helps..
