Macbook vs Macbook Pro with Photoshop?

Okay, I know there are many many questions saying "Macbook vs Macbook Pro" but I keep reading answers that contradict each other. Also, a lot of those questions are older and I believe there are newer Macbooks and Macbook Pros out right now with higher minimum specs, so I will ask again. I am going to be a senior in high school and am thinking of purcahsing a MB or a MBP. I'm planning to go into graphic/web design as a career. I've read about the graphics card you get with the MBP but I don't know if that is mainly for gaming or if it would help immensely in Photoshop too, esp. considering the regular MB specs have gone up since the original releases. (I think. Can someone verify this?) I would likely do very little gaming on the laptop. Mostly I would be using it for Photoshop, general internet, schoolwork, website work, and watching movies/videos. Also, I have a 'free' version of Photoshop on my PC right now. Is that available with the Macbooks as well? Please Help!

  1. Macbook Pro with Photoshop
  2. The MacBook is perfectly capable of Photoshop tasks. The graphics card in the MacBook Pro would show little or no improvements over Photoshop tasks. What is essential to Photoshop is processor speed and RAM. A dedicated graphics card would be essential if you intend to do 3D design or intense video editing. The saying "the better the graphics card, the better Photoshop performance" is just not true. You'd be better off buying a MacBook and 4GB RAM (not installed by Apple, try OWC), 7200rpm HDD... and it'll still cost you less then an entry level MacBook Pro.
  3. The main difference between Macbook and Macbook Pro is a better graphics card, less than two inches of screen, and a backlit keyboard. Oh and over $700. The Macbook is completely capable and great at working with photoshop and final cut pro. I have used both programs on both machines and there is no difference. Things even look better because of the glossy screen. The only difference that you can tell between Macbook and Macbook Pro is during gaming, which is pretty non existant on a Mac anyway. My advice, go with a Macbook. A 2.4 Ghz White Macbook upgraded to 4GB RAM and 250 GB ROM is twice as fast and can hold more memory than the 2.1 Ghz Macbook Pro. And its still more than 400 dollars cheaper.
