If I Volunteer at Hospitals During High School Will It effect My application in to nursing school?

Well I am About to enter High School and I basically have my career planned out! I'm going to go to mtsu and get a bachelors of science in nursing degree then become, and then become a RN, in pediatrics hopefully, then I would love to get a job working in pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I am also Planning on Continuing my Education and getting my Master or science in Nursing Degree and Become a NP, in Pedatrics, and Hopefully like i said working for Vanderbuilt lol. well the point is if i volunteer alot in hospitals during highschool will it make any effect on getting in to nursing school? oh btw, 2 things, I know the classes and good grades i need in highschool, and i dont need anyone to tell me i may change my mind im young, i'm 99.9% i won't, but the point is i'm asking!

  1. I think that volunteering at a hospital in high school certainly could help. :-) It is always recommended to job shadow if possible so volunteering will help you make 100% sure this is the field you want to go into. Who knows maybe you'll find that you don't like it afterall and you'll have to explore the 0.1% option. You may also gain an edge over other prospective students who didn't have that volunteer experience and it will show that you are dedicated to the nursing program. Overall, it sounds like you have a great plan and I hope it all works out for the best.
