I need a career change any advise?

I'm looking for a career change and don't want to do insurance or work in the medical field anymore. I like working with the public and don't mind phones. The hadest thing to find is a stable job with good benefits as well. I'm a laid back person and am don't like to compete with co workers and like to work independently and don't like to rely on others to get the job done and requires little or no education. Does anyone have any good ideas for a career change that is stable?

  1. you might try medical transcription, but don't limit yourself to one field, try different ones or maybe law transcription/stenotyping. You can work alone most of the time doing these things and even from your house :o)
  2. Since you like working with the public and don't mind phones, you might try looking for a business that relates to what you've been doing before. What kind of work were you doing, and how long were you doing it? We've been in the same wellness business for 14 years, and it is better and stronger now than ever before. It is a business that helps people with wellness, which is one of the fastest growing economic sectors today. Are you looking for something that might be in that catagory?
  3. I think you need to analyze what it is that you want to do and then go do it. You can take all the factors that you like and don't like about your current job like you seem to have stated and find one that you will be best at. I'd recommend "What Color is Your Parachute" as a good referrence book. Here's some web sites that might help: http://jobsearch.about.com/od/careeradvice/Career_Change_How_to_Change_Careers.htm <- This site has some great career changing advice. For example things to watch out for, etc. http://www.msugf.edu/studentlife/CareerServices/FreeAssessments.htm <-- Not all of these are good, but the ones that are might help you. I've explored these and they helped me select what I ended up doing as a teacher. Your local state employment department will have additional sites and helps for you. I recommend you check with them. Next, you will need to find a new job that meets your criteria. Again, check with your state employment department, but ONLY has a starting point. It would be best for you to identify who you'd like to work for and go interview them (See "What Color is Your Parachute". Good luck in your quest.
