Which path would you suggest for a career change?

Which would be better: Associates Degree with certificates in diverse areas (Accounting, medical terminology, customer service, front office, icd-9, etc) or Associates Degree and a certificate of completion in another program (such as Accounting)? I am moving from a large city to a small town where most positions only require a high school diploma. I do not have time to get a BA/BS nor do most people have one where I am moving to, so I don't see that as a requirement. May I also add, that I have 15 years in retail sales and management experience, as this is a real career change as well as a relocation. I already have an AS in general studies. I will not go back for a BA.

  1. Customer service manager, move over into HR did you do the hiring, Recruitment is an option as well. It really depends on your salary needs. Good Luck
  2. Whatever makes you happy, but dont get one in general studies or business mgt, these are too generic. Go for the marketable ones, legal secy, paralegal, accounting etc. You can always fall back on retail.
  3. Become an RN (Registered Nurse) well, that is if you like nursing. I totally love it! It makes me feel acomplished and also like I have done good for the world.
  4. Associates In Medical Terminology Because You Can Use That In A Lot Of Hospitols Or From The Comfort Of Your Home On Your Computer.. The Medical Field Is Very Broad.. You Can Never Go Wrong
  5. I would get something specific, i.e. accounting. If it's an AA it is less helpful to be diverse, I think in that short amount of time you need to know as much as you can about one thing. Nothing says you will live in Po-dunk for the rest of your life, why not get your AA and then go on to get your Bachelor's via online or correspondence later? It will never count against you to have as much education as you can.
  6. Since most people don't have degrees where you are going, you will probably be better off getting the AA with diverse certificates. That way, there will be a better chance to find a job. If you limit it to a certificate of completion in one area, they may not have a need in the area at this time. Luck.
  7. I say Associates Degree with certificates in diverse areas (Accounting, medical terminology, customer service, front office, icd-9, etc) that will give you more options and more knowledge
  8. medical anything is always a good field to go to.
