What are the high school requirements for a career in education?

- Finish high school is pretty much it. If you know what you would like to eventually teach, you might like to take some classes in high school that relate to that field, but even that is not nessessary. English as a Second Language is a hot field right now and will be for at least ten years. All of Asia is sucking up ESL teachers as fast as they can. Travel, decent pay, and lots of fun...and you already speak English! After high school, go to college, get a bachelor of education and you are good to go. You could also teach in your own country, but think of the excitement of traveling abroad!
- Graduating and meeting the entrance requirements for your college of choice. Some high schools offer teacher prep courses or Teacher Academies. Yim had a pretty good suggestion about being an ESOL teacher. If you think building, creating or doing things you might want to consider Career & Technical education. Teaching pre-engineering is a blast - look at www.pltw.org Good luck!!!
