This is a very wide field and you have not provided much information. Given that... Get to know computer software operating systems. Vista, WinXP, Mac OS, etc. Also, get to know the PC/Mac itself as to how it works h/w-wise. Then it depends on what kind of software you will be testing. You may need to learn different types of client applications.
