- yes, there are many different opportunities for accounts with the ability to make large sums annually.
- Yes that is a very good career to get into. It can get quite doring but it pays well especially if your working for one of the top accounting companies.
- Absolutely! Accounting is one of the toughest majors at the business school. Any program that is tough is valued more highly in the marketplace. If you major in accounting, PLEASE take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam as soon as you can! I can't understand people who go through all the time and effort to get an Accounting degree and then don't bother to get (or finish) their CPA exam. To be a CPA is a valueable and highly respected certification. Another recommendation... After college, go to work (if possible) for a well-respected accounting firm (Deloitte, KPMG, etc.). Those firms look good on a resume. If you don't like it, you don't have to stay there forever. An accounting degree will enable you to function in a variety of positions (including starting your own business as an entrepreneur). If you're a good accountant, you will ALWAYS be in demand. Businesses always need accountants. If you're in a management position at a company, your accounting background will enable you to digest financial figures very effectively. I can't say enough good things about having an accounting background. (And no, I'm not an accountant myself). Good luck!
