  1. > what is your career? I'm a consultant for international humanitarian organizations and nonprofit organizations. I help with marketing, public relations and community involvement/volunteer management. > why did you choosse this career? I didn't. It chose me. I started off pursuing a BA in journalism, but before I even finished (and I did finish) I knew I didn't want to be a reporter. I started working while at university as an assistant to a marketing director at a performing arts center. After graduation, I worked in marketing and public relations at nonprofit organizations, then started incorporating the Internet into my work, and then just happened to get a very unique, one-of-a-kind area of expertise that landed me a job at the United Nations. While there, I studied Spanish intensely and pursued a Master's Degree in Development Management -- I never could have stayed in international development without the additional degree and language skill. > are you satisfied with your career w/ your career choice? VERY > if you had it to do over would you select the same career? YES! But I would have started learning another language much, much earlier, and then moved on to a third language. >what things do you do best about your job? >advantages? I don't understand these questions. Perhaps you are asking me what I like about my career choice. I love working with such diverse cultures, I love the diversity of the work I do (it's never, ever the same), and I like that I have to keep learning and studying as a part of this career. > dislikes? You can never just "cruise." You can have less intense days than others, but you can't relax for very long at all. >do you see yoursself keeping this job unitl you retire? I see myself staying in something relating to nonprofits somehow. >is this a career with hob security ? You mean job security? Consulting, no. International work, where you are under a long-term contract with an organization, yes. >>(what is the future outlook for your career? are ppl in your career being offered early retirement packages?)_ No, in fact, people with a lot of experience are required, and early retirement very much hurts international humanitarian organizations and nonprofits. >>what advice could you give me concerning choosing a career? Do what you love.
