- You really need to 1st contemplate what it is you want to do and stick with it. You cannot take a shotgun approach to your career. As a Corporate Recruiter I can say that a person without an HR background can certainly get into HR. You will probably have to start out as a Admin or a Coordinator for an HR department. You may even work for an agency with the hopes of moving into a corp recruiting job (rare). I would recommend going to your university's career center and talking to an advisor to help you figure this one out. If you are not in your college's area, many agency's can help you in determining where your next step should be. Again it all comes down to you making the best decision for yourself and sticking to it. Good Luck!
