USMC vs. Navy training question ed. answers only plz?

everyone tells me the marines have the most sense of honor/comradery and also is the most elite. I have also heard the navy is the best at training for post-military careers, as well as travel. But if i joined the corps, what kind of fire programs do they offer, more importantly can i pick an infantry MOS and still be cross trained to be a certified firefighter when my 4 years ends??? or will i just be the guy without the gun? because i would like the experience of being a marine, but want to gain a career out of the military. so with this info can some one give me some experienced advice??

  1. The Marine firefighting school for the aviation side is co-located and a joint school with the Navy; most aviation skills are at joint schools primarily with the Navy at Pensacola or Meridian MS but some with the Air Force also. If you want the best of both see about getting into the Marines with a crash-crew (aviation side of fire fighting) job. If you go in as an infantryman it would be unlikely you would cross train in fire fighting; most cross training is in a related field so the best thing would be talk to a recruiter about the job above and see what happens. The reason the Marine aviation schools are joint is that it makes little sense to spend the money for seperate schools if the training is the same; the Marines use similiar equipment in the air wing so financially a good way to do it; same is true for armor and artillery on the ground side the schools are at the same location as the Army's and the Marines use that training program and then complete it with Marine peculiar training afterwards.
  2. Except for the retired Navy all the instructors at my college prefer Air Force people. Both the AF and Navy have very good schools. The Marines can train you to be a police officer, this is what most of my friends who are prior service Marines are doing. Just make the right chose for you, if your a gun-ho type the Marines would be a fine fit but if your more of a brainy-ack the AF or Navy would be the way to go. Good Luck with the chose you make. 3. Every one is a Marine regardless of what the MOS is. On that note and if you are up to it try out for the Crash Fire Rescue. CFR. They will be on all the of the Air Wing Bases in and out side the US. It also provides the most up to date traning to which is comparable too most of the civil traning and after a hitch or if going towards 20 you have the traning to work at a civilian airport. During your time in you still have to keep up your military training rifle rang, pft est. good luck.
  4. well you could be a navy firefighter i dont think the marines have anything because they are part of the navy or you could ask a recruiter they probably know more than me im sure your town will pick up ex marines as firefighters though just trying to be helpfull
  5. My suggestion is if you want to able to carry a rifle(and by that i mean train with rifles at least once a year and qualify) and be a firefighter (crash fire rescue) I would suggest the Corp. The only reason for that is the training is more intense every Marine is a riflemen (yay training) plus then there is the firemen training (this is held in an air force base- its pretty intense and i believe this is joint training ). Remember when S- hit hits the fan your a trained riflemen and you will function as one during combat.
