Are there any careers out there that are similar to be a travel agent?

I really wanted to be a travel agent/consultant but then i realized that no one really uses them anymore because the internet took over their jobs. Is there anything similar to this type of job..like planning, organizing, working at a desk or office with a computer?

  1. no matter where you are in the world caring for the elderly is underpaid and under-appreciated. in the US certified nurses aides are in the same position as you. speak to your supervisor/matron and express your concerns. stay positive during the discussion but be honest. i realize a lot of labor laws and regulations are much different there then here in the US but people are generally the same. if you are sincere, polite and genuinely concerned you will be able to communicate that and just ask for an increase. it may not happen but it might, or you may find what you need to do to get a raise or be able to put a plan together with some goals and time frame for when you will see a raise. the work you do is extremely hard, my wife works in a nursing home as director of medical records and also works the floor 1 or 2 days a week. she started as an aide before she finished nursing school and i know how hard she works. good luck don't be afraid to speak up just be honest about what you think and how you feel. things will work out for you. http://www.entertainmentvenues.org
  2. some big firms like easyjet etc have headquaters which you can work in, but you have to live close to them. people still use travelagents as they like the personal touch....they are not going to disappear off the high street!! so why dont you get a job with a local travel agent and gain some experience in the field, as this will set you up for a future career in this sector. good luck
  3. Have you ever thought of starting your own online travel business? You can still help the people you know with travel, but without the expense of a bricks and mortar agency. As you are well aware, the internet has changed everything. Consumers want to have control, but sometimes may need a little help. You can do this with your own online travel store. My wife and I started our own online travel business. We went through a host agency to help us get started. It is publicly traded, SEC regulated, has a $6,000 guarantee, and even offers health insurance. No one else comes close. We love this business!
  4. I suggest you to start your own travel agency http://www.karnatakaholidays.com
