Anyone Ever Been To A Career Counselor?

Has anyone ever been to a career counselor? If so, can you tell me what the counselor did for you and what the general procedure is? I've had some testing done before (personality, interest, etc.) by a psychologist, so that's already out of the way. I was hoping a career counselor could help in getting me more information about specific careers, outlooks, education, etc. Specifically, I am looking for more information than I am able to find just by myself doing an internet search! No need to pay someone to do that...!

  1. A good career counselor will want to evaluate you from their perspective which will probably involve another psychometric test session. (there are many different styles available and some are better than others). They should also provide you with information on how to better market yourself to potential employers. I know someone who is very good at this and he calls himself a Personal Marketing Advisor vs. Career Counselor. He suggest developing a website as an additive to your written resume. So the answer is that a Good Career Counselor is helpful, but you still have to do the work to secure the position.
