  1. The ones that include subjects like: Dreamweaver, Fireworks (or the whole Macromedia suite) Corel Draw, Photoshop, Front Page, Maya, and of course HTML which is nowadays underrated but it is a basement to understand the web world. Some of JAVA and VISUAL NET (programming languages) would be good and Microsoft Visio as well. I don“t think you can find a course including all these subjects as a whole but most of them are easy to find.
  2. I would suggest you start at the beginning, buy a book on HTML and work thru the pages from start to finish. HTML, XHTML & CSS by Elizabeth Castro is a good book for beginners. My next suggestion would be CSS Web Site Design by Eric Meyer. This book contains a CD with all of the files on it that you will need to work thru the book. I am not certain what software you own presently if any, but look on ebay for Dreamweaver 8. You can download a trial version of it here. http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=studio&loc=en_us Also look for the book Dreamweaver 8 revealed. This will teach you the basics of the software, It also includes a CD with student files to work thru the projects in the book. You can also find Flash 8 revealed and Fireworks 8 revealed. Flash is of course the animation and script software from Adobe and Fireworks is a graphic software with Javascript capablilities. They both have CD's included. If you are going to be a web designer, you will of course need an image editing/creation software. My suggestion would be Paint Shop Pro by Corel. It has the same capabilities as Photoshop at 1/9 the cost. You would have to search for books on it, I have not looked for any. The above mentioned will give you your basic knowledge you will need for site design. You can move up from there. Next, purchase Dreamweaver 8 Unleashed. It is an advanced text on the software and goes into much more detail than the Revealed series. You also should find textbooks on Javascript, Visual Basic, Java, ASP.NET and Php. Remember when you work thru the books, do not skip around and be sure you complete each exercise at the end of the chapters. While you may think you have the current topic mastered, practice makes perfect. Good Luck with your new career! peace, mavin
