Future Search?
I'm a junior in high school, and I have begun to think about what I am going to do with my future. But I am having a really hard time finding something that I will be interested in--job-wise. I've mostly focused on a business major until now, but I can't put my finger on something that I am really passionate about. I need help finding careers/majors that best suit me, whether this be by some test to see what I like, or another way. Thanks.

- I believe collegeboard.com as an assessment of some sort. If not, your guidance counselor should know of a test that is available.
- Many juniors in college are in the same position. You really don't have to have your future all mapped out by the time you turn 16! In fact, the most common major for college freshmen is "undeclared", because most people your age don't yet know what they want to do. Yes, there are tests you can take, but better is that when you get to college, you will be taking general education classes, and something may inspire a passion in you. If not, you can talk to your counselors, both in high school and in college, about it. They can look at your record to get a better sense of what you seem to respond well to.
- Look on the web for sites that allow you to complete questionnaires about career interest. Some key words you can use: Job categories Entry level opportunities Career options Choosing a career questioniare
- Take it one step at a time. Most people don't even know what they want to major in, much less what they want to do, when they arrive at college. If you're one of those people, it's not going to hurt your chances of having a successful career when you do decide what that career will be. However, it is fun to explore careers and things. If you haven't already got a Collegeboard account, get one. They have a section on there for students that has the sort of thing you're looking for.
