computer career direction?

Hi community, I want to get some direction and advice on what I could start with to see where Ic ould go with a computer career ( i know it depends on me in the end run) When it comes to computer I really enjoy working/playing with computers. I don't have much skills though, I spend much of my time online surfing the web playing games sometimes trying to learn things like (Jave, C++, HTML etc...)... I also enjoy computer games and playing them and maybe creating them (IS there a salary in computer game making or is it just by how much you do?) So if people could give me a start on what I could do with a computer career and give your opinions and also have some links to websites if possible. Thank You very much for the help Merry Christmas. It's alright, I'm actually 25 years old and have that direction in mind, just haven't been to college yet...

  1. You didn't mention how old you are. But I will assume you are in high school or earlier and have not yet gone to college. Know that everything good usually takes a plan to get there. You just don't go from kindergarten to a 6-figure job without some steps in between. I would strongly suggest to plan for a 4-year college in a technical field. Computer science/engineering, electrical engineering, etc. You can get there by getting good grades in high school and taking the math/science classes you need to get into a good engineering/science school. You can easily research which schools are best, but the major public schools in your area are probably fine as well. Remember that if you graduate in the top of your class at your local state school, it's usually better than graduating at the bottom of the class at an expensive private school. Then as you get close to graduating, you need to start researching jobs and interviewing at companies. If you are a computer programmer and still want to program games, you can look into companies like EA Sports, Nintendo, etc. But also remember that you can take another step towards your goal by just getting a job with a great company and learning even further. If you are successful, ultimately you will be able to land your dream job.
  2. Well in my opinion if you wish to pursue game making, I hope you are talented in arts. I know of some who pursue game making and they attended art schools to learn computer graphics and design. If you like fixing and building computers you can pursue a career as a computer technician and you can try and get the Comptia A+ certification for that. If you wish to pursue networking i recommend getting Cisco certification with CCNA. If you want a general education in computers and you can pursue Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information systems.
