Carrer Choice?

Hi i'm a sophomore in highschool and am worried about my future. Its just i feel like i should know what job i wanna do. But i feel scared because im gonna be doing it for the rest of my life. I have had those phases where i was possitive i wanted to be this but later decided it wasnt right for me. But anyway all i know is I want a science related job. So i'm taking extra science classes. But I was wondering if anyone knew a free accurate career test i could take that could show me some new jobs that i might be interested in?

  1. There is no career test that will tell you exactly what you should do for the rest of your life. I do recommend going to your counselor's office and asking what they recommend because there are a couple of popular examinations (I just don't remember their names right off -- I will edit this if I remember) By the way, just because you have a job, doesn't mean you are stuck doing that for the rest of your life. I recommend trying something you are interested in whether you think you'll do it forever or not. You'll be able to figure out what you do and don't want to do and find the correct career path. In fact, start now by trying to get into a research program or an internship (paid or unpaid) and get yourself out there! You'll be amazed at the kind of career exploration you can do in high school if you are motivated and a good student.
  2. First of all, most people your age don't yet know what they want to do, so you are not at all behind schedule on this. The most common major among college freshmen is "undeclared", because they have not yet decided what they want to do. Secondly, we have heard for a number of years now that very few people do the same thing for the rest of their lives; the average person now has six to eight careers - not just jobs, but whole careers - during their working lives. I don't know of any tests that would be available to you now, but you could ask your high school counselor if they have access to such a test, and once you are in college, the career center will have such tests that you could take.
  3. That's cool that you at least have the basics of what you want to be in down. A science-related job huh? Well, there are plenty of them, like: -a doctor -biology/chemistry/physics/science teacher/professor -forensics -csi [dna-people y'know?] -botanist -geologist -scientist -chemist -astronomer -psychologist -experts on artificial intelligence -archaeologist -biologist -environmentalist -pharmacist -biochemical engineer -dermatologist -surgeon? -medical researcher For more go here: http://aaas.sciencecareers.org/js.php Free accurate career tests: http://similarminds.com/career.html http://www.princetonreview.com/cte/quiz/career_quiz1.asp http://uk.tickle.com/test/careerpersonality.html Oh and look at this as well: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=science+careers
