Is the PASS (Plan for Achieving Self-Support) program through SSA a program that helps you work?
I know it's about saving your benefits to achieve a work goal, but I'm confused about it. How does it work? Do you work a job & then save your SSI money & put it aside in order to help you work on your BIG time career goal? I'm not clear on how it works.

- Right now the maximum you can save while on SSI is 2,000. Also the most you can make without having to pay back part of your pay is $85.00. So if you get an SSI check for $623.00 and a job that pays $200.00 a month - you would have your next check reduced by $57.50. Instead of having your check reduced - you can put $115 of the money you earn into your PASS account. You get to keep your $623 + $85 of your pay ----and $115.00 goes toward your PASS goal. A PASS goal has to be preapproved and can be training, college, a vehicle (to get to and from work), a computer for work, business start-up capital - all kinds of things.
