1. No No No!!!! This is a scam---please do not fall for it. There **are** people whose job is to market web sites, but they either work directly for the company whose web site it is or else they work for marketing/advertising firms. There is no market whatsoever for independent "web site promotion specialists".
2. I have never head of a "website promotion specialist" before. Any successful website will promote itself based on its ease of functionality, demographic, marketing plan and sales support. It also depends on the type of web site built. Use our company's web site as an example - http://www.cology.com - this site was just recently built as a tool for our sales team to use when they talk with potential clients. We are building a different website which will require membership enrollment and that will have to rely on viral and traditional marketing techniques. If you are looking to promote web sites start a blog and talk about your favorite sites - who knows it may lead to a job.
