  2. Hey hi, Definately the Design Engineers are in well demand but all that matters is whether you are just a CAD modeller or a good Design Engineer. If you really want to become a good Design Engg rather than just a CAD modeller/draughtsman I would suggest you to join Vector Technologies CAD CAM CAE Training & Engg Services in Pune. 3. I live in the US and work as a design engineer . I can’t recommend a good school, but I can answer some of your questions. Your success as a design engineer is going to ultimately depend on your work experience and less of what courses you took. It’s sometimes difficult to get a good design job right out of school so if you decide to go to this trade school use it only as a stepping stone and don’t get pigeon holed as a drafter. Drafting experience is good, but make sure you let your employer know of your other analytical skills as well as your practical. For example I can read a book on flying planes but that doesn’t make me a pilot. Knowing CAD doesn’t make you a design engineer. Get practical experience that you can use to market yourself. What you really want to learn are things like geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, tolerance stackups, manufacturing methods etc. and the best way to do so if by doing. Unfortunately you are at a stage in your life where you will deal with a lot of people that only want to know what school you went to, what your grades were etc. but trust me, in 5 years the only thing people will want to know is what skills do you bring to the table, and you want to bring more than just , I know software program X, Y,Z. If I had to choose programs to get trained on I would choose Pro/E, Solidworks you can teach yourself.
