I need some serious Career Advice, esp. if you are a career expert, and even if you are not - help me out.?

I have kind of wasted years in Health care school and now I have a degree in "Bachelor in Health Care Sciences" - YES i don't even know what to do with this degree. Well, how i ended up with this degree is a WHOLE DIFF. STORY. FOR NOW ... I want to know weather I can use this degree to get a job in Health care / Research labs / Financial Sectors / any other field ? (I am at least looking for decent paying jobs about 38 to 40k) - reason its tough because - I don't have much back-ground with Business/Finance or even research. "Health-Care jobs" = with BS degree its tough to find a decent one. so what kind of jobs I can get with Health Care degree ????? I have my resumes on monster + career builder and Yahoo Hot jobs ... but haven't been getting any strong replies ... I can't afford to go back to school or invest money to open my own business... or I would have done that Yesterday :((( please guide me with any of ur past experiences and advices. Thanks a l

  1. The joy about the way society is progressing is you can do anything you want. Just because you have a degree in Health doesnt mean you can't get a job in a different field. All an employer is looking for is the right attititude, skills are teachable, but attitude is something that you can't teach. Dont expect an employer to find you, you need to get out there, research companies, fine one that suits you and go forward from there, and if they say no the first time, dont give up, keep on trying. Remember to do your research on companies before interviews sothat you can sell yourself according to their missions/values etc. good luck
  2. www.usajobs.gov is the federal website. I think you'll find your degree may open opportunities. Look for positions GS-5 to GS-7. Once you get hired, you'll have opportunity to move up or across within the agency. Don't limit your choices to just the health care field - apply to anything you might be interested in. While those job boards are fun to browse, you probably won't find a legitimate, long-standing position through them. And if you've seen an increase in your SPAM, it's probably due to those websites. Use them but don't let them use you. 1)Seek out your state sponsored workforce center and get registered. Acces their website daily. 2) Same for your college - most college career centers are open to alumni, and are online. 3)Seek out professional magazines/newsletters and put your resume out into the research field. If you already believe your degree is worthless, you've given yourself One Strike. Put on a game face and get back into the game - 'work' full-time to find a job.
