Pharmacy vs. Business career. Are you satisfied with your career?

I'm thinking of going back to school to become a pharmacist. Financially, it seems like staying with a corporation would be better but not everyone has the connections or Ivy League education to become a CEO. I don't have any ideas to start my own business. I'm worried that eventually I'll be middle aged with no prospects for advancement. My parents are at that stage now. They work with budgets. Working in pharmacy would be a bit of a step up for me. I like going to school. When I was little I used to think about being a doctor but changed my mind when I saw that it was a long and stressful process. It seems like I could earn a pharmacy degree and another degree in the time it takes to become a doctor. Any pharmacists or pharmacy professors out there? Doctors or business people? Are you satisfied with your careers? Do you get vacation time? Do you have time to spend with your family?

  1. I am very satisfied that I chose pharmacy as a career path. I was in your situation a few years back. I always wanted to become a doctor but then when I first saw blood on a bleeding patient, I almost fainted. I chose pharmacy because: ) You can get a million dollar insurance on your license for less than $500 per year 2) You rarely get sue 3) You get paid 75-150K per year STARTING OUT!!! 4) You'll have flexible work hours 5) You are one of the most trusted profession in the US Needless to say more...Pharmacy is a great profession with a bright future! The disadvantages: 1) Same thing everyday 2) You have to deal with bad customers/patients
  2. Do it.
