HATRED: Which well known PERSONALITY or ACTOR screwed up the worst and did the most damage to their career?

In your opinion, which one of these well known people did the most and possibly quite irreversible damage to their career over a well known and well publicized act(s) that was widely interpreted as hate/bigotry/intolerance? Who has the most and least chance of career recovery or modification as a result of their words/actions? 1. MEL GIBSON 2. MICHAEL"KRAMER" RICHARDS 3. DON IMUS 4. ISSAIC WASHINGTON 5. TOM CRUISE NOTE: I'm sticking to Actors and Radio people to keep this simple, as stretching my list to include the likes of, say, ANN COULTER would take up far too much webspace and time, plus that asexual monster deserves a thread of its own. So, among those five, who can likely recover any career most successfully, and least successfully?

Public Comments

  1. Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise, but does it matter they already have so much money.
  2. Well Kramer screwed up bad, Don Imus has always been mean so it doesn't really matter, Isaiah Washington messed up, Tom Cruise is kidnda crazy. I think tom cruise messed u the worst, ppl actually think he is crazy. I think Mel gibson will get his carreer back on track.
  3. OOOOH, good question! I would have to say Michael Richards has the least chance of career recovery -- Don Imus has always been a hateful/racist/butt -- Issac Washington will bounce back IF he keeps his mouth shut and just stays low for a while -- Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise are high enough on the food chain that they really don't have to worry too much. Both have done or said really stupid things, but don't think their careers will be permanently damaged in the long run.
  4. reorder the least first 1. Don Imus 2. Kramer 3.Washington 4. Tom Cruise 5. Mel Gibson
  5. out of your list I would have to say Issac Washington and here is why, Mel Gibson is so stinking rich he really does not even need the studios to make or finance a movie, so he will continue to do what ever he wants in the way of his career, don Imus already has a new contract starting in January, and Kramer was at the end or his career any way, no new sitcom or movies so he took to stand up and you see where that got him, and again tom cruise again is at the point he does not really need the studio to make or finance his pictures, but Issac Washington is up shits creek, they guy apologized a thousand times and did ever thing the studio asked of him and they still fired him, and he is on the black list and it will take quite a while for him to find work! he is f'ed!
  6. Well, in my opinion Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise have enough money and are far along enough in their careers where they can go pretty much in any direction they choose with little support from people in the industry. Michael Richards didn't really have much of a career after Seinfeld ended and will never be able to lose the Kramer persona. I had never even heard of Don Imus before the whole controversy over his comments and I feel that he will find another venue eventually for his radio show because if people really think about it and drop the stupid politically correctness b.s., they will see that what he said was pretty tame compared to what those women probably hear in rap music everyday. I think Isaiah Washington won't do much better than Grey's Anatomy because I'm sure that by now he has a reputation for being someone who might be difficult to work with. He'll probably find support among some black people in the industry because I have noticed that they don't really care about what he said and even gave him an image award shortly after the fallout for his homophobic comments. That being said, I think he will have it the worst because he stepped on too many toes and offended too many people.
