What is the difference between career development and workforce development?

Public Comments

  1. The term career development is commonly referred to as the following (from Wikipedia): In organizational development (or OD), the study of career development looks at: * how individuals manage their careers within and between organizations * and how organizations structure the career progress of their members "Workforce development" is a term commonly used by states and municipalities to refer to the development of the workforce in the area. I see career development as being focused on an individual's career growth, and workforce development focused on broader, more generalized development focused on the needs of many.
  2. Career development is individual oriented. It is to establish a path for employee career progression either within a company or within a profession. Workforce development is company oriented. It is to establish sufficiently capable and skilled group of employees to perform necessary duties. Best wishes.
