What is the difference between career development and workforce development?
Public Comments
- The term career development is commonly referred to as the following (from Wikipedia): In organizational development (or OD), the study of career development looks at: * how individuals manage their careers within and between organizations * and how organizations structure the career progress of their members "Workforce development" is a term commonly used by states and municipalities to refer to the development of the workforce in the area. I see career development as being focused on an individual's career growth, and workforce development focused on broader, more generalized development focused on the needs of many.
- Career development is individual oriented. It is to establish a path for employee career progression either within a company or within a profession. Workforce development is company oriented. It is to establish sufficiently capable and skilled group of employees to perform necessary duties. Best wishes.
