At which point did you give up your dream career and accepted your lot in life?
What was the one career where you ultimately saw yourself? What moment led you to believe that you were no longer in control of your future and that you should accept what the market gave you?

- running a company or charity...long ago knew cuz i couldnt pass the math required and it takes money too to buy companies,
- That's a question I would give you five stars for if I could. I knew my profession would be a nurse from the time I could walk and talk so that's what I did. Then I got married and had two girls. When my youngest was born she had medical issues that causes her immune system to be significantly lower than you and I. Her doctor made me find another carrer choice due to the fact that I was bringing home things even though I didn't realize I was that could make her very sick. At that point I realized I was no longer in control. I began to explore options and even got a paralegal degree. I am now 29 and office manager for a construction and paving company and I love it. I miss nursing and helping people, but my love for my daughter is far more important.
- Never. You find a different dream and a different path. There is nothing that says that you just have to accept things as they are. It is a soul searching, really getting to know who you are, not being afraid to dig deep, etc. You may need to look outside yourself and your world for the answers. There are a lot of resources out there. Figure out what is important to you and what you would like to do. You may have to take a different path to get what you want but you never know how it will work out if you don't at least try. Don't give up. Be careful of snap judgments and narrow thinking. There are obstacles in life so you have to decide how you want to handle them. They may be too much and you may need to go down another path but you don't have to miserable about it. Long ago I wanted to do something creative like dance or music. I couldn't afford lessons like I needed. I graduated from college after changing majors many times. I had closed off science because I couldn't bear the thought of dissecting. I have since gone back to college and went through it. It was fine. It was very interesting. I wanted to go to pharmacy school. I didn't get in and it would take me too long and too much money to try again. I was accepted into nursing program but I wouldn't be able to work. It was expensive (too much money) and too much of a sacrifice. I'm working full-time and studying part-time for accounting. I want to help people with my education. I'm very interested in forensics accounting. Spread your wings far and wide. Don't limit yourself without checking things out. Don't let yourself believe that you know it all and have all the answers. Nobody does and no one ever will.
- I wanted to be a vet for so long and one day I came across this fantastic radio show. I called in and got on the air right away and talked to the host. I was able to chat with him and give my view on the subject. I got such a rush and after I got off the phone I realized that my passion is radio and I've been pursuing my dream to be on a prime radio spot since. I just love to voice my opinion which is usually not the same as others. I like arguing and persuading. I have a good voice and can have stimulating conversatations and just saw that this is my reason to live. I have a radio show now but its not a big thing. It is a start though and I have gained a tremendous amount of experiance. I am well on my way of becoming what I've worked so hard to be. :)
- this is an interesting question... I wanted to work for an NGO such as habitat for humanity to help build houses... to actually do something instead of talking about doing something... the turning point for me was a realization that I don't have enough $ / time to get the education I needed to be full time employee of such organization. I ended doing something pretty different (computer work) however I'm still able to "help" even though not exactly that way I planned... I bet there is a lot of people out there who we were (maybe still are) big dreamers (including me) about how they are going to help the world... unfortunately, the reality hits you when you get out of school and realize, there are bills to pay and that's when the dreams are crushed...
- The day that ended the career I trained for and worked in for 20 years, was the day I was made redundant, but as things have turned out I eventually found something much much better, looking back on my career, I now realise I was working long hours for an income which just about kept my head above water. I now have a business which I run from home which is fun, part time and produces a size able and increasing monthly income, if you would like to find out more then email me and I will tell you how you too can control your future.
