  1. Here are some thoughts for you. It depends on what you mean by top notch. Is that Financially? Lets presume that is where you are going. If we leave out medicine and pharmaceuticals, then you still have a huge selection. Almost every industry has some segment of it that revolves around chemistry. There is a large crossover between chemistry and biology. So, don't overlook biology classes in your rush to chemistry. And don't overlook Biology related jobs. For example food companies, agricultural companies, etc. There are plenty of challenging jobs in other industries. Polymers, Paint / Coatings, Plastics, Fragrances, Detergents, Don't overlook jobs in the environmental area. The opportunities there are too many to list. There are so many specialty niches. As with most things, the more you learn the more you earn. Depending on your area and the industry you choose, salaries can be anywhere. I know you wanted some details here, but, it is just too hard to say. Let me give you a bit of advice based on my own life expereince. I got a BS in Biology and a BS in Chemistry. Then got an entry level job. After a few years I went back to school on my employers tuition reimbursement program for my MBA. I got my MBA at almost zero cost to me. I had a unique blend of science and business skills. I took an overseas expatriate job. Now, I run our business for the entire Asia Pacific area. It worked well for me. The MBA is more useful once you have a few years of work experience to use as a frame of reference for the academics that go with it. And as a science person you have an outsiders perspective on the busines academics. Best regards and good luck in your career search.
  2. Yeah wouldnt life be so easy if there was a big poster showing jobs and max salaries haha. I wanted to know the same question but heres the truth: They are all pretty much the same pay, medicinal, polymers, inorganic, nanotech, materials whatever you want to do, do it because you love it. You can go as far as you like in any field within a company, Im going into polymers this should have great opportunities as there are many jobs available for polymer chemists. Best of luck! Don ;-)
