Full Careers

Hairdressers only: I am too old for cosmetology school?

I am a mom of two teens; have attended some college but no degree; and am considering changing careers. (I currently work for a municipality.) I am rather limited in what I can do - other than clerical/administrative assistant positions. Do you think this is too late in life for me to do? Would I have a difficult time finding work at my age? I know many adults who are returning to school for various career changes in mid-life. Would I feel out of place at a beauty school learning with high school/college age young women? Thanks for sharing your thoughts....

  1. no i do not think you are too old..yo would actually be great for that kinda job... like you would be able to let people your age know that working or trying to start work in a job they want can be started at any age.... i honestly dont see why you couldnt do it as id guess that you would be great at it and would have the patience to fulfill your want to be a beautician/ hairdresser.and you would have the time to concentrate completely as your children are grown up.... I would actually applaud you for doing something like that because you would be showing other people that life is not over because you are getting older..... Id say your daughters would be very grateful aswell as their mam could do their hair and make-up aswell and for free
  2. Absolutely not. I did not get in to cosmetology school until my early 40's. I am now enjoying a career instead of a job. If you truly want it, then by all means go out and get it. I graduated with another "more mature" person that was in her late 50's. GO FOR IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
