Career Change?

I am 29 and am trying to change my career from engineering to IT industry. I want to give oracle certifications and pursue my career further in this field. I am not finding the right direction. Can anyone help me in this matter.Did anyone have similar phase in their life.

  1. Have you talked with a guidance counselor about your thoughts of career change. Check with the local engineering department at the university or college.

No plz dont do such a thing i understood ur oracle professional ,this is grt in database fields and very much recommended , dont try to get into IT cause u soon you will boared of it. i am computer eng. too, used to work 3 years into IT field , after a time i discovered all what i learned , anybody can learn it as well i turned into communication field and know i am field engineer in ALCATEL ,i can tell you it's great !! but notice that Oracle is so awsome also, but i didnt had the imagination of a programmer any further info, contact me.
  3. My husband went from Business Admin to IT in his late 20s. Not going to make tons of money, if that's why you're thinking of doing it. Will have to put in your dues for a few years at the help desk and then hope you make connections to get out. Go for network admin and make sure you get an IS degree from a reputable school. Don't try to bluff your way into a position but make sure you know what you say you do. Company's are catching on to the fact that people are getting the certifications from Microsoft and whatnot but perhaps don't know how to actually do the work, just how to take and to pass the tests. Make absolutely sure you want to throw away your years in engineering and any seniority you have and start again at the bottom of the ladder.
