Career dilemma....Please help!!?

I need serious help. I'm 28 years old and at a serious crossroads in my life. I want to go back to school within the next year, but I don't know what direction to go in. I have two opposite career choices in mind. In one direction, I can go for a career and make good money. I wouldn't hate the career, but I know I wouldn't be passionate about it. The other direction, I would have a career that I would be passionate about, but I wouldn't have a steady/guaranteed income. My husband doesn't make a lot of money and we are constantly living paycheck to paycheck which is something I don't want to do. I want so much more for myself and my family. But, I also want to be happy. So, do I go for the career that makes money and regret later in life that I didn't do what I was passionate about, or do I go for the career that I would really enjoy that makes very little money and regret that I didn't go for the career that would give us financial security? What would or have you done?

  1. this is what i would do, take the money job and go back to school at night or on the net and get the job i love with bigger and better pay later on down the road, the only thing you can do is talk to your husband and see if this is something he and you can work out and try. cann't hurt right? what ever you say is right good luck
  2. Personally, I went for the career that I was passionate about. I got my BS in Geology and still am a geologist, even though I have since gone back to school and gotten two more degrees. There have been some rough times, especially when a geologist couldn't buy a job, but it is worth it to be passionate about something. Also, one thing about it - if you are passionate about something, it shows. If you are dispassionate about something, that also shows. Follow your heart!
  3. I have a degree in Engineering and I am really passioate about it, however, job is scarce and I have mouths to feed and I ended up in the HR career, I later became a Deputy General Manager for Administration where five manufacturing support Departments were under me. Regrets? None! My greatest motivation and inspiration is my family's welfare.
  4. There might just be a third choice, something that you and your husband could run part time from home. I have now retired from being employed but still keep myself busy seeing if I can help people just like you and just yesterday I found the following web site www.wealthbuildersplan.info and gives an excellent overview of a possible solution for you. Take a look and get back to me and give me your reaction, as I would really like to get some feedback on my suggestions. My email address can be found by clicking on my avatar.
