Looking for a programmer for an IT project in London?
We run a London-based fund of hedge funds. We need some work done around an Excel-based system, so looking for a bright and eager IT person. Project is too small and too well-defined for consultancy or for a permanent position. I can call the career services of the main computing science universities in London but can anyone think of a better way of finding such a programmer? Many thanks

- Depends on the complexitiy of the soultion. I possibly could do it for you. I'm have many years of experience with the software. I am an A level student studying computing and ICT and have been described as very talented and bright the that field.
- If you are using excel to run any banking application you are certifiably insane.
- Try placing an ad for a temp on http://www.reed.co.uk/freecruitment. It's run by Reed the agency but they don't charge you for advertising and receiving CVs on the site. The reason it's free is that the more ads on their site, the more candidates register and they no longer have to worry about where they get their candidates from for paying customers.
- Ooh... if it was Exeter (or if it can be done over e-mail) we might have had a deal
- Good luck finding a programmer to work with Excel.... If I was you, I would stop specifying "Excel based" and get a real programmer to write you some real software. "Excel based" solutions are more commonly known as "botch jobs"...
- Post your proposal at http://www.rentacoder.com where you can summarise the task, how long you expect it to take, and the sort of payment you'll be offering, and coders will bid on the job.
