Full Careers

Is this a viable career startegy?

I've been trying to figure out a career path over the past year and nothing completely feels right to me. I've taken a plethora of personality tests and have looked into teaching, market research analysis, photography, etc. I'm 32 and really wanted to find a career path to which I could completely dedicate myself, but nothing seems right for me. Money is important, but I need to do something that is interesting and fulfilling as well. I have a B.A. and experience in politics, marketing, and project management. I'm now considering looking for a job that sounds interesting to me without worrying career path implications. I think that regardless, I can use the experience in the future. Career jumping is becoming much more common these days. I'm starting to think that changing careers might just be a reflection of my personality and I should stop trying to fight it. Am I missing something or should I just simply look for a job that interests me? Thanks in advance

  1. Reading this whole thing it doesn't say WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO or WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT(not where your experience lies). I think you should look at those two things first since you're the expert on both questions, and then decide from there.
  2. 1. Grab a sheet of paper. 2. List what you love to do with spare time 3. List what your interests are 4. List what makes you laugh 5. List what you think about when you first wake up 6. List what you dream about Take the lists and group things together. This will be your passion. That is the career you need to be in to be happy in life.
  3. The above answers are very good. The one thing I would add is to think about something that you are really passionate about. What do you end up talking to people about constantly when you are with them socially, for instance? And yes, it's ok to change careers. Life is short. Try new things, and find your passion!
