Do jobs in U.K. require personality tests ?

I am living in the U.S. and it has gotten so much more difficult to get a job without having to go through endless background checks and drug tests and some are even doing credit checks and now I have heard that places like Taco Bell and Jack in the Box restaurants (dont know i you have those there) are requiring "personality tests" to be hired . And even i you are hired they make you go through a week two training process where you have to watch boring movies about how to act around customers or how to cut a tomatoe properly and how to wear rubber gloves and endless endless company policies and rules that you have to agree to. And this is just for a job that pays what would be equivalant to 3 or 4 pounds per hour! and they always hire more people than they actually need so you have to compete with each other for this job and at the end of a few weeks your manager will let you know if you "won" this excellent career opportunity or if he has chosen another of the other 5 people!

  1. Some of the larger companies do personality tests as part of the selection process. Most small ones don't.
  2. no ,but a think there should be some sort of test for the army the complete and utter empty heads they let in , there not even fit just dumb asses. and they give them a gum and some can't get to grips with safety precautions i make sure to run behind them in live firing section attacks.
