What is the best career assessment test?

I am wondering if there are better career assessment tests than others. I'm considering trying to make a career change but would like to feel more confident about doing so, in addition to finding some direction in regards to what area I might thrive. Any help would be most appreciated. I should clarify-- what is the best FREE career assessment test. I love the idea of meyers briggs and jist, however I can't afford to purchase those tests at this time. Many thanks!

  1. I've always liked the Myer's Briggs test, but if you are looking for something that is other than the norm, you could try the assessment in the book, 50 Best Jobs for your Personality which is a Jist publication. They also have a website, www.jist.com, that has many other assessments. The assessment helps you target your personality type (Conventional, Realistic, Entrepreneur, etc) then gives you many options for types of jobs you might enjoy doing, even breaking down the salaries and the type of education and training needed for the job. I really like this assessment because it asks what type of skills you like to use the most and the least, which is helpful in pinpointing the type of work I would be happiest doing. Good Luck!!
  2. try http://joblinkinfo.com as it has some listings as well as job related info that might help you out, good luck.
  3. Just google 'career quiz' and a dozen sites will come up. I have taken a couple myself, but I almost feel like investing the money into a 'real' test might give you the incentive you need.
