Future Career?

I'm currently considering what to be in the future. My best subjects are maths and science, I think I'd like to do forensics, but are there any other interesting careers that focus around these two subjects? Thanks, links and experience please. By the way, I live in the UK

  1. There's a great link from a US College called "What can I do with a Major in....?" (Students' subjects of study are called "majors) The terminology might be slightly different, but the students at my school have found this site pretty helpful: http://www.uncwil.edu/stuaff/career/majors/index.htm Good Luck! 2. If you're interested, there are also all sorts of career assessment tests that you can take to find out more specifically what your interests are. There's some online (places like tickle.com or just search "career assessment tests") or you can go to your guidance counselor for help. Libraries usually have a good section of career help books too. There are lots of websites specifically designed to help math/science students. Try searching "careers math" or "science careers", for example. Good luck!
  3. Unless you really want a BA for whatever reason(or unless you really want a career that requires a university degree) I would encourage you to look into a technical career. Just from my life experience, I have come to realize that the whole college degree thing is a dissapointment and slightly deceiving. WHen you are in high school you assume that you get a degree and you start working. But for many of us its almost impossible unless you go to a Masters Degree or PhD. I kind of regret having studied a degree. Now I am at a masters degree and working in a restaurant because theres nothing else I can do. Having a practical career is VERY useful because: 1. There is usually high demand(of course pick the right one) 2. The pay is quite high in relation to how much you studied. 3. It is easy to travel and emigrate( this is one that maybe doesnt get mentioned much, but for someone like me who really loves to travel, this is huge!) 4. You can upgrade(make sure it allows for this) if you decide you like the career and can make even bigger wads of money.(if you spend 4 or 5 years and you realize that you dont like your job or that there isnt much future youve wasted your youth and your time) Anyway, there are lots of reasons If you are set on a BA, I recommend that you research the job demand and the salary. These are very important once you get past the idealistic phase of the beauty of education
