Career in Software Testing?

I m 24 & a Graduate Engineer, looking to shift career from Technical Industry(manufacturing) to software.I know C& to some extent C++, i planned to learn J2EE/J2ME or .NET &C# to get into software, but friends advised to take Software testing since learning J2EE or ,NET &C# takes time to make successful career. because i need i told them i want to enter the field in 5 months time. Is the Software Testing is right career option to enter the software field, then simultaneously learn a programming lang to become sucessful programmer later on. Please suggest me good advice.

  1. That sounds like an excellent and realistic plan. Definitely learn programming if that's what you want to do. I think you'll find that initially software testing is all they will let you do. If you know programming, maybe you can get into unit testing (a form of software testing using programming) which will help your career in the future.
