foreign language to learn based on my interests and career plans?

- What languages do you have available to you? What are your interests? Chinese and Japanese are becoming popular due to the countries becoming bigger world/business powers. Spanish and French are classics (especially for high school). Spanish within the United States is most useful when dealing with the Mexican population. Say if you were teaching in an area with a large Spanish speaking population, then you would be better able in that area. I wish I paid better attention to Spanish in HS just for this reason. French. All the people I know who have taken it, don't use it. I would suppose if you plan on traveling/living/working in Canada or France, this would be most helpful.
