Career Change Question?

I've been a manager in the IT industry for over 20 years. My real development experience was therefore quite a while ago. I've enjoyed my time in management, but would like to move back to my "first love", development (changing companies at the same time). I've taken Visual Basic and some C courses in the past, am taking Java now - plan on a couple more courses. I enjoy any development - but my review of where the market is today tells me Java looks to have the most open positions right now. Anyone able to confirm that? I know comparing Java vs the rest of the world, notably MS, is probably a loaded question. Any suggestions for moving ahead in Java? Thanks!

  1. I can't comment for the whole industry, but I've contracted for a few government organisations for the last few years and I wouldn't say that java is more dominant than c. I think either way you'll get a job. I say go for whichever pays the most!
  2. Trust me, you'll get a job in Java long before you'll get a job in C. If you can speak English and develop in Java you have a future. There aren't thousands of guys from India in the US becasue they can devleop in C. They are here because they can develop in Java. Take it from a Recruiter. Stick with the Java.
