1. I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but I'll take a stab at it anyway. :) Usually, increases in salary mean movement up the career ladder. This isn't always the case, but generally speaking, it is. It might not be the case in industries that have suffered serious problems, such as the "dot com" fallout and its effect on the tech industry. Lots of dot-commers were happy to get any kind of a job, regardless of where it fell on their personal pay scale. Someone having lots of money doesn't mean they've had a successful career, and vice versa. I hope this info helps!
