Ok here's the story. I already work for a government agency. I want to become a deputy, but I have to go into Detention/ Corrections first. I was just wondering if any one else is already in the detention/ corrections field. I haven't been to the academy yet. If there are, what exactly can I expect. Keep in mind I already work in law enforcement but not in a sworn poition.

- I have no idea what state you are in, but here's how most academies work (at least in the State of California because you will need a POST certificate to work as a deputy): http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/academycadet.html and http://www.post.ca.gov/default.asp and http://www.post.ca.gov/about/ Oh, and if you only want to be a correctional deputy (some of those are non-sworn positions), you won't need a POST certificate (at least in some counties in CA).
