What should I say at an interview for a receptionist position? I'm interviewing for a position as a receptionist at my school's Career Development Office. Any suggestions on what I should say when they ask me why I want to work there and why I want to be a receptionist? I really want this job! Thanks.
Career Development question. Help! I have a degree in Finance, and was hired earlier last year.? My work mostly consist of back office/paperwork, but was promised 2 get more "thinking"/mind using job later in 2006. While doing yearly appraisal with my boss I asked if my job routine will change & he said not soon! Now after 8 months in 2007 our company is merging with another & my new title is operations officer (which is back office/papework. Meaning, NOT what I was promised) My boss always told me he want 2 send me 2 work at different institutions or go on business trips & then changes his mind & do nothing. I end up doing more paperwork/follow-ups, getting signatures... WHICH I HATE! Plus, he is not fair with everyone. Some people come 1 or 2 hrs late & I come right on time. Also, when he did my appraisal I was the only employee who did not have privacy like all the others (someone in the office with us which is against policy) Today I am having a talk with him before our move is official. I want 2 go through the right channels (not skip my boss & talk to HR or so) When he keep promising me things and end up breaking all the promises I tend to get angrier. I used to LOVE to come to work and now I just hate it! Its not healthy to come to work everyday like this knowing I will do paperwork when I studied finance and graduated with GPA 3.621! Any other employees getting recruited here he gives them kick-ass jobs such as valuation and analysis which I really want to do. He never allow me to attend the monthly meetings of the dept. and I end up alone in the office when they go with the secertary and what sucks is that most of their phone calls are forwarded to me like I am doing the secertary job! Arghhhh! I need a guide line to follow when I go speak to him later. I just want to know what he see me doing in the future. I am in it for the career development and not for the money to be quiet honest! I like to be busy and work hard and do something I like and be productive.. what I am doing now is making me brain-fried (you dont use ur mind!!!) Mark thanks.. I have studied some engineering before going to business school I know I am smart and can do much more than just sit here fill paperwork and get signatures and all those mindless jobs I am doing! People get hired after I was hired and get much better jobs some are even younger than me!! I am AGITATED!!! arghhhhhhhhhhhh Gerald, maybe you like to work as a mindless machine that only do what they are told to and not look for areas to improve yourself! I have talked to my boss and to your surprise he said I totally understand and I am willing to give you more work that is not back-office related. Even better he said if I decided to look for another job that he will write me good recommendation letters and refrences and will use his resources to help me. He said he doesnt want to let me go, but because I am not improving he totally understands! So its you Gerald who cannot think right and you are so rude!!!! OLDIE!

What motivates you to want to do a better job at work? I am a manager in a corporate office and am trying to help my team of 10 people motivate themselves. The only budget is out of my pocket so large financial rewards and costly recognition are not an option. I try to be fun with our team recognition but feel that I could be doing more. Help?
How could I solve this situation in a professional way? I have a difficult sitaution at work. I am feeling discrminated. This started when I joined my work as a temporary staff with a male colleague. This male was given better training and was entitled to more tasks than I although we had the same job description. When I discussed this with my boss, he said that he prefers a male for these tasks. A year passed and I could prove efficiency. At the same time, the office needed to select regular staff among the temporary staff. Although we had a job interview and written exam, the management selected the most important person to the office and didn't much care for the exam and interview results. This person has become my boss as a result. Although I proved efficiency, I still feel bad because of this unjustified descrminative situation. How could I put an end to that situation in a professional manner? I love my career and doesn't want to quit but I can see that this situation negativly affects my career development.
What are The Benefits of Studying With ICS Distance Learning? I wanted to find this question out because I am interested in getting into I.T but I have heard so many bad things about I.T training companies like Computeach. The problem is I have borrowed a career development loan 18 months ago. I have been told by a Computeach course advisor it takes 3 years from the original application to borrow another career development loan. I was recommended ICS but they don't offer job assistance or work placement with the training. What is the benefit of ICS, if they can't get you to break through the industry? I have a secretarial background (MS Office), but I am interested in networking. I would appreciate answers from anyone who studies with ICS, how did you get you first job in a new industry? I would also like to hear from I.T professional that recommended good training organizations geared towards gaining an I.T career. T

Is there any funding avilable for low skilled adults to retrain? My partner is working 2 minimum wage driving jobs at the moment, 12 hours+ per day for £5.50 an hour and its a dead end. He started training as a Driving Instructor but had to leave to course as we could not fund it - the course allowed you to train now and pay later but he failed the credit score as we have severe financial problems and outstanding debts/CCJs. Because of these we were also refused a Career Development Loan by our Bank. The Careers Office have just told him that there is nothing available and short of winning the lottery he will just have to make do with min wage work. This can't be right in a country which is supposed to have "skills shortages" surely? We live in Wales. Is there any help we haven't tried? mr truth - what are you doing on here - you're supposed to be signing-on today! Off with you and pick up your giro! Your 8 kids need new designer clothing. thumbelina - sadly train to gain is not available in Wales, only in England.
What can I do? Education or Social Services? Career Counselor was worthless.? I have 2 AA Degrees, a Bachelor's Degree in Management, 61 units completed for the Education Specialist Credential in M-M Disabilities and additional coursework in ASL, Child Development and Computers/Office Technology. I did not pass my student teaching due to my disability. My work experience includes (Aide, Substitute Teacher, ESL Testing Technician, Non-profit agencies for clients w/disabilities, food service and retail). I could get my Masters in ED w/o the credential by taking 4 more classes ( + my thesis). Or, I could take the same amount of classes for the ECE Credential, (no thesis required) But, what if I don't pass my student teaching again? Most of my education and experience is in education. If I apply in a field that is different, employers say I need a different degree or ask, why the change? I need to know what am I qualified to do with what I have so far. If I need to go a little further, Masters Degree or an ECE credential? Please help if you can. I have passed the CBEST, SSAT and RICA Examinations for teaching. I do not have the energy to start a different Masters Degree from the bottom-up.

I am looking for a Job. I earned an Industrial Engineering degree in Dec. 2002? Advice? My brother-in-law opened a new Chiropracti office when I graduated and I worked there to help him out. Now, 3 years later, I am ready to move on. I liked being an office manager for my brother-in-law and want an executive assistant/office manager position in Manhattan (and I thought the experience would help me get that position). Now, should I tell people that my brother-in-law was the Doctor and I worked for him (would that cheapen the experience)? If I find it tough to find an executive asssitant/office manager job with an engineering degree, is it too late for me to start an Engineering career or a career in technology, since I did not do Engineering for 3 years (althouhg I used some Engineering skills in the Chiropractic office - website development, patient in-flow/out-flow, etc.)? Thank You.
Moving to Japan--advice on career change? We have lived in Japan twice 10 years ago both doing the JET program in turn. We now have 2 young children (Asian, adopted) and would love for them to have the opportunity to live abroad, go to an international school and live & travel in Asia. My husband has worked in product management/development for the past 10 years in Japanese companies and is in a career track to become a director at his current company. We loved living in Japan, as hard as it is, and have always dreamed of trying the ex-pat life there. The current position is a switch from Japanese manufacturing companies to working as a director for a US state office in Japan to bring Japanese companies to that state (& jobs for US workers). Idealistically we really like it and hope that long term, it will help my husband break into working for American companies in Japan. We wonder, though, if this kind of change in his resume (we plan to live there at least 3-5 years) would really set him back. Thanks!

Anyone heard of the.....? Professional Career Development Institute?? It is an online Institute where you can take online courses and get a Diploma. I was wondering if anyone has every done this and gotten a job after getting your Diploma? I already have my AA degree and want a job as a Medical office Assistant. Is Art History worth it? I've been planning on staying in school until I get my Ph.D because my dream career is to be a curator at the Metropolitan in NYC. Currently, I work in a development office in a small art gallery in a city that is in between decadence and cultural restoration. Truth be told, I am eternally bored at my job (I've been here less than a year - I handle money and correspond with our donors, along with some b**** work, such as filing and mail.) I've only completed my freshman year as an Art History/Philosophy major, so I think I can still make whatever jump I want. The people that I work with all have at least their M.FA, with mainly a concentration in Art History. I'm afraid that even with a Ph.D, I'm going to be working in a stuffy office doing work that is boring. I just don't like the atmosphere. It seems glamorous on the outside, but I'm afraid that I've tapped into the reality of it. The real question: Is this IT or have I just gotten the bad end of the field? Experiences? Desk3, I appreciate your advice, but my fear isn't being unsuccessful. My fear is being stuck in a job that I'm unenthusiastic about. I guess it's a hard question because interests are relative...

I just got fired from my first career job (which I spent 4yrs building). How do I cope? I worked for a supplier plant in the automotive industry since before there was even a plant (I was on the launch team for the projects). Yesterday I got called -totally out of the blue- into the HR office was told that due to the automotive industry slump and plant budget cuts, the corporation decided to dissapear my position, and me with it. This was my first REAL carreer job and this is the first time I've ever gotten fired. I'm still in TOTAL shock and denial! I mean I had a lot of plants for my life and for my professional development, now I have to start from scratch again as far as benefits go. I do have my experiences and projects under my belt so now I'm a much more qualfied therefore exensive propspective employee I just can't get over the fact that I got fired! I'm so depressed that I can't even begin to process this! Please help! I DO have next steps figured out. Where to submit my resume, contacts I've made through the years in the industry. But I'm also getting extremely anxious since, to add insult to injury, they let me go on the Holiday season so everyone is on vacation and I can't get moving RIGHT NOW.

Need help deciding Computer Major? ^topic I love being on the computer everyday, I know how to use many Microsoft Office programs as much as any ordinary college student, but since I'm a somewhat avid gamer, I've toyed around with different file formats, know how to use the Internet Browser well, know its functions alot more than the ordinary Computer user, etc. I've also had decent amount of experience with Flash (animation). I took up on accounting so far during my second semester in College, but hate it and desperately want to move into a Computer related field. I need help deciding exactly which specific field would be good for someone like me... I don't know much about the actual interior computer parts, but I love being on the Internet Browser, so I was wondering.. Is web development a good career with decent/worthwhile pay? Is it a secure job? What exactly do you need to know/do? Or is anyone else in a Computer related field and wouldn't mind explaining to me their work (range of pay within field)?thx
what can be a good title for this essay? any suggestions on what else i can add to make it longer? A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the care and development of children and in the prevention and treatment of children’s diseases. They work to reduce infant and child mortality, control infectious diseases, foster healthy lifestyles, and ease the day-to-day difficulties of children and adolescents with chronic conditions. Pediatricians take care of kids, from birth to 21 years of age. Last week, I had the pleasure to interview my co-workers sister, Melissa Martinez. Dr. Martinez is a pediatrician at El Paso Pediatric center. My interview took place at an Italian restaurant called Olive Garden. I was excited to have the opportunity to find out what a pediatrician is all about. The morning sun warmed out that Saturday. It was around two p.m. when I arrived to the restaurant. I entered the front doors and to my right I immediately spotted Dr.Martinez, a thin, tall, in her mid-forties lady, sitting in a corner table enjoying a cup of coffee. I walked over to the table and she promptly stood up and greeted me with a firm handshake. The restaurant had a delicious, appetizing aroma. As we were anticipating for our warm meals, I asked Dr. Martinez what she enjoyed about being a pediatrician. She proudly said, “I enjoy everything about my job, and I think that most people who choose a career in pediatrics feel the same way.” I then asked her what were some things that she does not like about being a pediatrician. She started describing a few things she did not enjoy. “ I don’t like to see kids crying and being in pain, but unfortunately, I’ve had to learn how to deal with that,” Dr. Martinez said. She also said that working with insurance companies can get difficult at times. After a few minutes, our waitress brought our food. The food looked mouth-watering and ready to be eaten. Enjoying our food, Dr. Martinez started explaining what influenced her in becoming a pediatrician. She said she always wanted to be a doctor since she was a little kid. During her third year of attending medical school, she started working with patients such as delivering babies, internal medicine, family practice and pediatrics. “I enjoyed pediatrics and taking care of children the most,” she said staring directly into my eyes. I told her that ever sine I was a little kid, my affection for kids had always been enormous also. I then asked her how much does pediatricians make. She said that pediatricians make less than $60,000 up to $400,000 a year. Her professionalism, courtesy, and understanding were helping me understand the pediatric field a little better. Wiping some spaghetti sauce from my lips, I asked Dr. Martinez what was the future for pediatrics. “Pediatrics has a strong future,” Dr. Martinez said with a very confident look, ‘’as long as people keep having babies there will always be a need for pediatricians.” As I asked what a typical day for a pediatrician was, she started explaining her day from beginning to end. “ Well, my day usually begins by going to the hospital to visit any new babies or sick children that have been hospitalized,” she began. “Next, office hours usually begin at 9:00 and continue until 5:00 p.m. with an hour of lunch in between,” she said. Dr. Martinez explained that during office hours, pediatricians see kids who are sick, for example ear infections or stomachaches, as well as well child appointments, such as when kids go for their checkups and shots. Finishing up our meals Dr. Martinez said, “There may be bad days when you get tired of what you are doing, but in general, I love my job.” Pediatrics is not just stomach infections and crying babies like I thought, it is actually a very challenging field. Melissa Martinez gave me a great insight on the pediatric field, giving me more motivation to pursue my goal in pediatrics. Someday I am going to be able to look back at this interview as a valuable learning experience.

What chance is there of peace in the Middle East when we are led by such a flawed man? When you look at the present administration and the number of conflicts which have flared up since they came to power can you honestly see a lasting peace emerge as long as they stay in power? Just look at the CV of our president. Is it one which inspires trust, or confidence. What chance do we or the world have of lasting peace when the most powerful country in the world is run by a man with this track record.? the bush legacy? EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • LAW ENFORCEMENT: I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been lost" and is not available. MILITARY: I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam. COLLEGE: I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader. PAST WORK EXPERIENCE: I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas, in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our right-wing friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS: I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America. I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money. I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history. With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by over 500,000 votes. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT: I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record. I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week. I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury. I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history. I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period. I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period. In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and that figure has risen to over 3 million lost jobs by the end of 2003. I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her. I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S. President. I am the all-time U.S. and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations. My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S. history, Enron. My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision. I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip-offs in history. I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed. I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history. I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any President in U.S. history. I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States government. I've broken more international treaties than any President in U.S. history. I am the first President in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission. I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law. I refused to allow inspectors access to U.S. "prisoners of war" detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention. I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. election). I set the record for fewest number of press conferences of any President since the advent of television. I set the the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period. After taking off the entire month of August, 2001, I presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history. I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history. I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind. I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. citizens, and the world community. I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families -- in war time. In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq, then blamed the lies on our British friends. I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security. I am supporting development of a nuclear "Tactical Bunker Buster," a WMD. I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice. RECORDS AND REFERENCES: All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father's library, sealed and unavailable for public view. All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view. All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review.
Any graphic designers/ web developers out their willing to tell me about their life? I am a really bright student who excels in many subjects, most notably business and graphic design.I am not sure if I should peruse business as a career or graphic design/web development. I have a real passion for web development. In fact, I have made my own site which is doing quite well, http://wtclan.com, most of the graphics are made by me. I can say that I could enjoy a life where I would be making graphics my whole life or maybe managing/developing a website. I can't however say that I would enjoy a life working in a cubical or in an office in a big building. That is why I need to clear up a few things about graphic design. What is a graphic designers salary? What is yours if you are one?(web developer too) Are you making enough money to do things you always wanted too? (travel, buy nice things) Do you have a lot of free time? Are you stressed at work? How do you think the career of graphic design will change in the future? (future slaray increase or decrease?) Thanks you! Sorry it's http://wtclan.com
Why do all of these high level officials question the events of 9/11? Current U.S. Senator states "The two questions that the congress will not ask . . . is why did 9/11 happen on George Bush's watch when he had clear warnings that it was going to happen? Why did they allow it to happen?" Current Republican Congressman states that "we see the [9/11] investigations that have been done so far as more or less cover-up and no real explanation of what went on" Current Democratic Congressman hints that we aren't being told the truth about 9/11 Former U.S. Republican Congressman and senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, and who served six years as the Chairman of the Military Research and Development Subcommittee, has shown that the U.S. tracked hijackers before 9/11, is open to hearing information about explosives in the Twin Towers, and is open to the possibility that 9/11 was an inside job Former Democratic Senator states that he supports a new 9/11 investigation and that we don't know the truth about 9/11 Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Ronald Reagan said that the official story of 9/11 is "the dog that doesn't hunt" (if you suspect he is a closet liberal, take a look at his bio) Former director of the U.S. "Star Wars" space defense program in both Republican and Democratic administrations, who was a senior air force colonel who flew 101 combat missions, and who is a Catholic Archbishop stated that 9/11 was an inside job (he also said "If our government had merely done nothing, and allowed normal procedures to happen on that morning of 9/11, the twin towers would still be standing, and thousands of dead Americans would still be alive. [T]hat is treason") Former U.S. Army Air Defense Officer and NORAD Tac Director, decorated with the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Soldiers Medal stated that "there is no way that an aircraft . . . would not be intercepted when they deviate from their flight plan, turn off their transponders, or stop communication with Air Traffic Control ... Attempts to obscure facts by calling them a 'conspiracy Theory' does not change the truth. It seems, 'Something is rotten in the State.'" Former 20-year Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer, the second-ranking civilian in U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence, and former CIA clandestine services case officer stated that "9/11 was at a minimum allowed to happen as a pretext for war", and it was probably an inside job (see Customer Review dated October 7, 2006). Former high-ranking Reagan official and very influential conservative doubts the official story about 9/11 Former Two-Star general questions the attack on the Pentagon Former Air Force Colonel and key Pentagon official finds various aspects of 9/11 suspicious Former President of the U.S. Air Force Accident Investigation Board, who also served as Pentagon Weapons Requirement Officer and as a member of the Pentagon's Quadrennial Defense Review, and who was awarded Distinguish Flying Crosses for Heroism, four Air Medals, four Meritorious Service Medals, and nine Aerial Achievement Medals, is a member of a group which doubts the government's version of 9/11 Current U.S. Congresswoman, former senior CIA analyst, former Deputy Secretary for Intelligence and Warning under Nixon, Ford, and Carter, former US Ambassador and Chief of Mission to Iraq, former Deputy Director to the White House Task Force on Terrorism, and former US Department of State Foreign Service Officer (as well as a who's who of liberals and independents) jointly call for a new investigation into 9/11 Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg said that some of the claims concerning government involvement in 9/11 are credible, that "very serious questions have been raised about what they [U.S. government officials] knew beforehand and how much involvement there might have been", that engineering 9/11 would not be humanly or psychologically beyond the scope of the current administration, and that there's enough evidence to justify a new, "hard-hitting" investigation into 9/11 with subpoenas and testimony taken under oath Former FBI translator, who the Department of Justice's Inspector General and several senators have called extremely credible (free subscription required), said "If they were to do real investigations we would see several significant high level criminal prosecutions in this country. And that is something that they are not going to let out. And, believe me; they will do everything to cover this up". She also is leaning towards the conclusion that 9/11 was an inside job A 28-year career CIA official says 9/11 was an inside job A retired 27-year CIA analyst who prepared and presented Presidential Daily Briefs and served as a high-level analyst for several presidents stated that there are indications that Cheney ordered a stand down of the military on 9/11 Former FBI agent says "The FBI, rather than trying to prevent a terrorist attack, was merely gathering intelligence so they would know who to arrest when a terrorist attack occurred." Former air traffic controller, who knows the flight corridor which the two planes which hit the Twin Towers flew "like the back of my hand" and who handled two actual hijackings says that 9/11 could not have occurred as the government says, and that planes can be tracked on radar even when their transponders are turned off (also, listen to this interview) Former 6-year Inspector General, U.S. Department of Transportation and former Professor of Aviation, Dept. of Aerospace Engineering and Aviation says "the [9/11] commission is clearly not talking to everybody or not telling us everything .... Huge discrepancies persist in basic facts .... when we heard the carriers and governments alike saying, “Oh, no one could have foreseen this. No one knew that this was coming. No one knew that there was any risk like this in the world,” is absolutely false.... The Group Director on matters of national security in the U.S. Government Accountability Office said that President Bush did not respond to unprecedented warnings of the 9/11 disaster and conducted a massive cover-up instead of accepting responsibility Former ambassador to Iraq is not satisfied with the official story Numerous high-level legal scholars question the official version of 9/11. As do numerous military leaders. And many officials from allied governments have also questioned 9/11: Statement by former President of Italy Statements by former German Defense Minister and current member of British Parliament Statement by former Canadian Minister of Defense Statements of two former MI5 (British intelligence) agents (19 minutes into video) Statement of a high-ranking general and the former chief of NATO regarding bombs in the Twin Towers (in Danish) Statement by the commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force; and see also statement of former chief of staff of the Russian armed forces
Should we change careers to live in Japan? Thanks!
creative title for this essay?? how can i make it better and longer?what should i take out or add? Someday I am going to be able to look back at this interview as a valuable learning experience. i know alot of u are saying to take out descriptions but thats the way my teacher wants it lots of descriptions of the place and every little thing that happened.. and i need a very creative title but i can't come up with one! :/

Was the Reagan Administration the most corrupt ever? Ronald Reagan's Criminal Administration: "By the end of his term, 138 Reagan administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations. In terms of number of officials involved, the record of his administration was the worst ever." James Watt, Reagan's Secretary of the Interior was indicted on 41 felony counts for using connections at the Department of Housing and Urban Development to help his private clients seek federal funds for housing projects in Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Watt conceded that he had received $500,000 from clients who were granted very favorable housing contracts after he had intervened on their behalf. In testifying before a House committee Watt said: "That's what they offered and it sounded like a lot of money to me, and we settled on it." Watt was eventually sentenced to five years in prison and 500 hours of community service. Although not convicted, Edwin Meese III, resigned as Reagan's Attorney General after having been the subject of investigations by the United States Office of the Independent Counsel on two occasions (Wedtech and Iran-Contra), during the 3 short years he was in office. E. Bob Wallach, close friend and law classmate of Attorney General Edwin Meese, was sentenced to six years in prison and fined $250,000 in connection with the Wedtech influence-peddling scandal. Lyn Nofziger--Convicted on charges of illegal lobbying of White House in Wedtech scandal. Michael Deaver received three years' probation and was fined one hundred thousand dollars after being convicted for lying to a congressional subcommittee and a federal grand jury about his lobbying activities after leaving the White House. The Iran-Contra scandal. In June, 1984, at a National Security Council meeting, CIA Director Casey urged President Reagan to seek third-party aid for the Nicaraguan contras. Secretary of State Schultz warned that it would be an "impeachable offense" if the U.S. government acted as conduit for such secret funding. But that didn't stop them. That same day, Oliver North was seeking third-party aid for the contras. But Reagan, the "teflon President" avoided serious charges or impeachment. Casper Weinberger was Secretary of Defense during Iran-Contra. In June 1992 he was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of concealing from congressional investigators and prosecutors thousands of pages of his handwritten notes. The personal memoirs taken during high level meetings, detailed events in 1985 and 1986 involving the Iran-Contra affair. Weinberger claimed he was being unfairly prosecuted because he would not provide information incriminating Ronald Reagan. Weinberger was scheduled to go on trial January 5, 1993, where the contents of his notes would have come to light and may have implicated other, unindicted conspirators. While Weinberger was never directly linked to the covert operations phase of the Iran-Contra affair, he is believed to have been involved in the cover-up of the ensuing scandal. According to Special Prosecutor Lawrence Walsh, Weinberger's notes contain evidence of a conspiracy among the highest ranking Reagan Administration officials to lie to congress and the American public. Some of the notes are believed to have evidence against then Vice-President George Bush who pardoned Weinberger to keep him from going to trial. Raymond Donovan, Secretary of Labor indicted for defrauding the New York City Transit Authority of $7.4. million. { Republicans will point out that Donovan was acquitted. And that really matters in Donovan's case, because he was a Republican. But it didn't matter for Clinton or any of his cabinet, most all of whom were acquitted, because they were Democrats!} Elliott Abrams was appointed by President Reagan in 1985 to head the State Department's Latin American Bureau. He was closely linked with ex-White House aide Lt. Col. Oliver North's covert movement to aid the Contras. Working for North, Abrams coordinated inter-agency support for the contras and helped solicit illegal funding from foreign powers as well as domestic contributors. Abrams agreed to cooperate with Iran-Contra investigators and pled guilty to two charges reduced to misdemeanors. He was sentenced in 1991 to two years probation and 100 hours of community service but was pardoned by President George Bush. Robert C. McFarlane was appointed Ronald Reagan's National Security Advisor in October 1983 and become well-known as a champion of the MX missile program in his role as White House liaison to congress. In 1984, Mc Farlane initiated the review of U.S. policy towards Iran that led directly to the arms for hostages deal. He also supervised early National Security Council efforts to support the Contras. Shortly after the Iran-Contra scandal was revealed in early 1987, McFarlane took an overdose of the tranquilizer Valium in an attempt to end his life. In his own words: "What really drove me to despair was a sense of having failed the country." McFarlane pled guilty to four misdemeanors and was sentenced to two years probation and 200 hours of community service. He was also fined $20,000. He received a blanket pardon from President George Bush. Oliver North--Convicted of falsifying and destroying documents, accepting an illegal gratuity, and aiding and abetting the obstruction of Congress. Conviction overturned on appeal due to legal technicalities. John Poindexter, Reagan's national security advisor, --guilty of five criminal counts involving conspiracy to mislead Congress, obstructing congressional inquiries, lying to lawmakers, used "high national security" to mask deceit and wrong-doing. Richard Secord pleaded guilty to a felony charge of lying to Congress over Iran-Contra. Alan D. Fiers was the Chief of the Central Intelligence Agency's Central American Task Force. Fiers pled guilty in 1991 to two counts of withholding information from congress about Oliver North's activities and the diversion of Iran arms sale money to aid the Contras. He was sentenced to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service. Fiers agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in exchange for having his felonies reduced to misdemeanors and his testimony gave a boost to the long standing criminal investigation of Lawrence Walsh, Special Prosecutor. Fiers testified that he and three CIA colleagues knew by mid-1986 that profits from the TOW and HAWK missile sales to Iran were being diverted to the Contras months before it became public knowledge. Alan Fiers received a blanket pardon for his crimes from President Bush. Clair George was Chief of the CIA's Division of Covert Operations under President Reagan. In August 1992 a hung jury led U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth to declare a mistrial in the case of Clair George who was accused of concealing from Congress his knowledge of the Iran-Contra affair. George had been named by Alan Fiers when Fiers turned state's evidence for Lawrence Walsh's investigation. In a second trial on charges of perjury, false statements and obstruction of justice, George was convicted of lying to two congressional committees in 1986. George faced a maximum five year federal prison sentence and a $20,000 fine for each of the two convictions. Jurors cleared George of five other charges including two counts of lying to a federal grand jury. Those charges would have carried a mandatory 10 months in prison upon conviction. Clair George received a blanket pardon for his crimes from President George Bush. Duane R. (Dewey) Clarridge was head of the CIA's Western European Division under President Reagan. He was indicted on November 29, 1991 for lying to congress and to the Tower Commission that investigated Iran- Contra. Why the Wealthiest & Most powerful Men on earth are Mexican-Americans or Mexican Illuminati ? Latin America's richest man added more than $6 billion to his fortune this year. He sold off his stakes in MCI and Altria and used the proceeds to up his holding in Saks Inc; in his fixed line operator, Telmex; and in America Movil, his flagship wireless telecom outfit. The latest was a particularly smart move as America Movil's stock has almost doubled in the past year. He also owns 71% of a new public company, Impulsora del Desarollo Economico de America Latina, which he spun off from financial services giant Grupo Financiero Inbursa. Inbursa also invested in a start-up budget airline called Volaris. An art collector, Slim houses his Rodin sculptures in Mexico City's Museo Soumaya, the museum he funded and named after his late wife. His Grupo Carso is reportedly a combination of his first name and his late wife's. Slim, the son of Lebanese immigrants, began buying businesses in Mexico as the government started selling companies in need of financing after its 1982 debt default. In 1990, he teamed up with Southwestern Bell Corp. and France Telecom SA to buy state-owned Telmex, which now has a market capitalization of more than $20 billion. Carlos Slim Helú (born January 28 , 1940 in Mexico City ) is Latin America 's richest man (and #3 in the world) according to Forbes . His wealth comes from his businesses in the communications industry, Teléfonos de México and América Móvil telecommunication companies. His father was Julián Slim Haddad ( Yusef Salim Haddad ), a Lebanese Maronite Christian, who as a teenager fled to Mexico in 1902 , escaping the harsh military rule of the Ottoman Turks . His father and two of his older brothers arrived at the Mexican port of Tampico , making their way to Mexico City where, in 1911 , Julian established a dry goods store called La Estrella del Oriente and took a gamble and bought up some prime real estate in the city core-a shrewd move as it turned out. 'That was courage,' says Slim Helu, 'He taught me no matter how bad a crisis gets, Mexico isn't going to disappear, and that if I have confidence in the country, any sound investment will eventually pay off.' Slim Haddad married Linda Helu, daughter of another prosperous Lebanese merchant, and had six children. Carlos Slim Helu was the fifth of the six children. Carlos credits his father as his mentor in business, retailing and finance. Julian Slim Haddad died in 1952 , leaving his family a moderately prosperous economic base from which Carlos launched his successful financial career. Slim has six children and lives in Mexico City. He is an engineer by profession, graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) (National Autonomous University of Mexico) in 1961, where before graduating he taught Algebra and Linear Programming . He has given lectures in public and private institutions, and also in international bodies such as the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA). He has been vice-president of the Mexican Stock Exchange and President of the Mexican Association of Brokerage Houses . He was the first President of the Latin-American Committee of the New York Stock Exchange Administration Council , and was in office from 1996 through 1998 . He is a director at the Board of Directors of the Philip Morris Companies and Alcatel , as well as for SBC Communications , a position from which he retired in July 2004 to devote more time to the Latin American Development Fund , focusing on infrastructure , health and education , amongst the most relevant work. He later built an important Mexican financial-industrial empires, Grupo Carso , that owns, among other companies the COMPUSA electronic retail chain. After 28 years he became the Honorary Lifetime Chairman of the business. He also holds this position in TELMEX, América Móvil and Grupo Financiero Inbursa. Slim opposes free trade and free market prescriptions for developing Latin economies. Though he maintains an actively involvement in his companies, his three sons Carlos, Marco Antonio and Patrick Slim Domit head them. Slim bought Telmex during then-president Carlos Salinas 's privatization spree. Mexicans complain that after the transfer, telephone prices went up dramatically but without any comparable change in service quality, although this situation was largely rectified with the subsequent opening up of the long-distance market to other competing providers. Many critics suspect that Slim's purchase of Telmex was corrupt, as were many of Salinas's privatizations. Slim has been awarded the Entrepreneurial Merit Medal of Honor from Mexico's Chamber of Commerce ; he received the " Golden Plate Award ", granted by the American Academy of Achievement and the Government of Belgium awarded him the Leopold II Commander Medal

Republicans. How many of these allegations can you disprove? RESUME OF GEORGE BUSH 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington , DC 20520 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: LAW ENFORCEMENT I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost" and is not available. MILITARY I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam. COLLEGE I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader. PAST WORK EXPERIENCE I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas, in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas . The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry, including Enron CEO Ken Lay, I was elected governor of Texas. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record. I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the US stock market. In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month. I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, had a Chevron oil tanker named after her. I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. election). I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any President since the advent of television. I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period. After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history. I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S.the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history. I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind. I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. citizens, and the world community. I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families-in-wartime. In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq and then blamed the lies on our British friends. RECORDS AND REFERENCES All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father's library, sealed and unavailable for public view. All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view. All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review. alannin I am not a Democrat. In fact I am not American. The fact is your governments actions(Republican or Democrat) have world-wide consequences. They have affected my life as well

What should I major in? MEGA-HELP NEEDED!? Ok I'm a high school junior going to start the college apps process and I'm really confused about what major to choose. Firstly, I love design and technology. I'm into graphic design, computer animation, web design (web design, not web programming), 2D and 3D graphics, visual effects, game design, game development and things like that. But the problem is, these careers don't pay much in the future...and money is a big issue. I don't want a boring old job in an office everyday, but I do want an exciting job in which I can use my interests and talent effectively! So which of these fields is the best and most-paying to get into? And by the time I enter a career, its probably gonna be 2014 so the industry's growth rate is an issue aswell. Can anyone help me decide?
plz comment on the following.? N R Narayana Murthy, chief mentor and chairman of the board, Infosys Technologies, delivered a pre-commencement lecture at the New York University (Stern School of Business) on May 9. It is a scintillating speech, Murthy speaks about the lessons he learnt from his life and career. We present it for our readers: Dean Cooley, faculty, staff, distinguished guests, and, most importantly, the graduating class of 2007, it is a great privilege to speak at your commencement ceremonies. I thank Dean Cooley and Prof Marti Subrahmanyam for their kind invitation. I am exhilarated to be part of such a joyous occasion. Congratulations to you, the class of 2007, on completing an important milestone in your life journey. After some thought, I have decided to share with you some of my life lessons. I learned these lessons in the context of my early career struggles, a life lived under the influence of sometimes unplanned events which were the crucibles that tempered my character and reshaped my future. I would like first to share some of these key life events with you, in the hope that these may help you understand my struggles and how chance events and unplanned encounters with influential persons shaped my life and career. Later, I will share the deeper life lessons that I have learned. My sincere hope is that this sharing will help you see your own trials and tribulations for the hidden blessings they can be. The first event occurred when I was a graduate student in Control Theory at IIT, Kanpur, in India. At breakfast on a bright Sunday morning in 1968, I had a chance encounter with a famous computer scientist on sabbatical from a well-known US university. He was discussing exciting new developments in the field of computer science with a large group of students and how such developments would alter our future. He was articulate, passionate and quite convincing. I was hooked. I went straight from breakfast to the library, read four or five papers he had suggested, and left the library determined to study computer science. Friends, when I look back today at that pivotal meeting, I marvel at how one role model can alter for the better the future of a young student. This experience taught me that valuable advice can sometimes come from an unexpected source, and chance events can sometimes open new doors. The next event that left an indelible mark on me occurred in 1974. The location: Nis, a border town between former Yugoslavia, now Serbia, and Bulgaria. I was hitchhiking from Paris back to Mysore, India, my home town. By the time a kind driver dropped me at Nis railway station at 9 p.m. on a Saturday night, the restaurant was closed. So was the bank the next morning, and I could not eat because I had no local money. I slept on the railway platform until 8.30 pm in the night when the Sofia Express pulled in. The only passengers in my compartment were a girl and a boy. I struck a conversation in French with the young girl. She talked about the travails of living in an iron curtain country, until we were roughly interrupted by some policemen who, I later gathered, were summoned by the young man who thought we were criticising the communist government of Bulgaria. The girl was led away; my backpack and sleeping bag were confiscated. I was dragged along the platform into a small 8x8 foot room with a cold stone floor and a hole in one corner by way of toilet facilities. I was held in that bitterly cold room without food or water for over 72 hours. I had lost all hope of ever seeing the outside world again, when the door opened. I was again dragged out unceremoniously, locked up in the guard's compartment on a departing freight train and told that I would be released 20 hours later upon reaching Istanbul. The guard's final words still ring in my ears -- "You are from a friendly country called India and that is why we are letting you go!" The journey to Istanbul was lonely, and I was starving. This long, lonely, cold journey forced me to deeply rethink my convictions about Communism. Early on a dark Thursday morning, after being hungry for 108 hours, I was purged of any last vestiges of affinity for the Left. I concluded that entrepreneurship, resulting in large-scale job creation, was the only viable mechanism for eradicating poverty in societies. Deep in my heart, I always thank the Bulgarian guards for transforming me from a confused Leftist into a determined, compassionate capitalist! Inevitably, this sequence of events led to the eventual founding of Infosys in 1981. While these first two events were rather fortuitous, the next two, both concerning the Infosys journey, were more planned and profoundly influenced my career trajectory. On a chilly Saturday morning in winter 1990, five of the seven founders of Infosys met in our small office in a leafy Bangalore suburb. The decision at hand was the possible sale of Infosys for the enticing sum of $1 million. After nine years of toil in the then business-unfriendly India, we were quite happy at the prospect of seeing at least some money. I let my younger colleagues talk about their future plans. Discussions about the travails of our journey thus far and our future challenges went on for about four hours. I had not yet spoken a word. Finally, it was my turn. I spoke about our journey from a small Mumbai apartment in 1981 that had been beset with many challenges, but also of how I believed we were at the darkest hour before the dawn. I then took an audacious step. If they were all bent upon selling the company, I said, I would buy out all my colleagues, though I did not have a cent in my pocket. There was a stunned silence in the room. My colleagues wondered aloud about my foolhardiness. But I remained silent. However, after an hour of my arguments, my colleagues changed their minds to my way of thinking. I urged them that if we wanted to create a great company, we should be optimistic and confident. They have more than lived up to their promise of that day. In the seventeen years since that day, Infosys has grown to revenues in excess of $3.0 billion, a net income of more than $800 million and a market capitalisation of more than $28 billion, 28,000 times richer than the offer of $1 million on that day. In the process, Infosys has created more than 70,000 well-paying jobs, 2,000-plus dollar-millionaires and 20,000-plus rupee millionaires. A final story: On a hot summer morning in 1995, a Fortune-10 corporation had sequestered all their Indian software vendors, including Infosys, in different rooms at the Taj Residency hotel in Bangalore so that the vendors could not communicate with one another. This customer's propensity for tough negotiations was well-known. Our team was very nervous. First of all, with revenues of only around $5 million, we were minnows compared to the customer. Second, this customer contributed fully 25% of our revenues. The loss of this business would potentially devastate our recently-listed company. Third, the customer's negotiation style was very aggressive. The customer team would go from room to room, get the best terms out of each vendor and then pit one vendor against the other. This went on for several rounds. Our various arguments why a fair price -- one that allowed us to invest in good people, R&D, infrastructure, technology and training -- was actually in their interest failed to cut any ice with the customer. By 5 p.m. on the last day, we had to make a decision right on the spot whether to accept the customer's terms or to walk out. All eyes were on me as I mulled over the decision. I closed my eyes, and reflected upon our journey until then. Through many a tough call, we had always thought about the long-term interests of Infosys. I communicated clearly to the customer team that we could not accept their terms, since it could well lead us to letting them down later. But I promised a smooth, professional transition to a vendor of customer's choice. This was a turning point for Infosys. Subsequently, we created a Risk Mitigation Council which ensured that we would never again depend too much on any one client, technology, country, application area or key employee. The crisis was a blessing in disguise. Today, Infosys has a sound de-risking strategy that has stabilised its revenues and profits. I want to share with you, next, the life lessons these events have taught me. 1. I will begin with the importance of learning from experience. It is less important, I believe, where you start. It is more important how and what you learn. If the quality of the learning is high, the development gradient is steep, and, given time, you can find yourself in a previously unattainable place. I believe the Infosys story is living proof of this. Learning from experience, however, can be complicated. It can be much more difficult to learn from success than from failure. If we fail, we think carefully about the precise cause. Success can indiscriminately reinforce all our prior actions. 2. A second theme concerns the power of chance events. As I think across a wide variety of settings in my life, I am struck by the incredible role played by the interplay of chance events with intentional choices. While the turning points themselves are indeed often fortuitous, how we respond to them is anything but so. It is this very quality of how we respond systematically to chance events that is crucial. 3. Of course, the mindset one works with is also quite critical. As recent work by the psychologist, Carol Dweck, has shown, it matters greatly whether one believes in ability as inherent or that it can be developed. Put simply, the former view, a fixed mindset, creates a tendency to avoid challenges, to ignore useful negative feedback and leads such people to plateau early and not achieve their full potential. The latter view, a growth mindset, leads to a tendency to embrace challenges, to learn from criticism and such people reach ever higher levels of achievement (Krakovsky, 2007: page 48). 4. The fourth theme is a cornerstone of the Indian spiritual tradition: self-knowledge. Indeed, the highest form of knowledge, it is said, is self-knowledge. I believe this greater awareness and knowledge of oneself is what ultimately helps develop a more grounded belief in oneself, courage, determination, and, above all, humility, all qualities which enable one to wear one's success with dignity and grace. Based on my life experiences, I can assert that it is this belief in learning from experience, a growth mindset, the power of chance events, and self-reflection that have helped me grow to the present. Back in the 1960s, the odds of my being in front of you today would have been zero. Yet here I stand before you! With every successive step, the odds kept changing in my favour, and it is these life lessons that made all the difference. My young friends, I would like to end with some words of advice. Do you believe that your future is pre-ordained, and is already set? Or, do you believe that your future is yet to be written and that it will depend upon the sometimes fortuitous events? Do you believe that these events can provide turning points to which you will respond with your energy and enthusiasm? Do you believe that you will learn from these events and that you will reflect on your setbacks? Do you believe that you will examine your successes with even greater care? I hope you believe that the future will be shaped by several turning points with great learning opportunities. In fact, this is the path I have walked to much advantage. A final word: When, one day, you have made your mark on the world, remember that, in the ultimate analysis, we are all mere temporary custodians of the wealth we generate, whether it be financial, intellectual, or emotional. The best use of all your wealth is to share it with those less fortunate. I believe that we have all at some time eaten the fruit from trees that we did not plant. In the fullness of time, when it is our turn to give, it behooves us in turn to plant gardens that we may never eat the fruit of, which will largely benefit generations to come. I believe this is our sacred responsibility, one that I hope you will shoulder in time. Thank you for your patience. Go forth and embrace your future with open arms, and pursue enthusiastically your own life journey of discovery!
