Making a career change into technical support? Hello. I have a friend who has been a logistics mgr/warehouse mgr for years. He has finished 3 of 4 years of a political science degree. He is great with technology and I think he'd be great in a technical capacity. He is very patient and can diagnose a problem easily and help you find a solution. Perfect for a tech support type role. He realizes he would need to get some additional education/certifications to make this type of career change. A few questions: 1-He is unable to go to school full time. What is the most comprehensive certification to get him where he needs to be. 2-What kind of job could he get with the certifications? And what would starting salary be. This is in the Los Angeles area. Thanks!

Any high schoolers out there, I need HELP? ok so at my school in order to be a national north carolina scholar, I would have to take a credit in the career/technical education area umm do you know what type of class that may be? A career to purse in Vancouver or Canada ? I am a chemical engineer by profession and it seems that engineering and technical education isn't getting me anywhere in Canada. The socio - economy conditions in Canada are much more hospitable to truck drivers, pizza shop owners, carpet cleaners than they are to technical people. My question is which side career can I re train myself for to be able to have a secure life in this place. As a matter of fact my graduation in chemical engineering is from Canada itself, though I am dissappointed to see that truck drivers, carpet cleaners make more money and have secure life styles in contrast to engineers. I would like to perhaps pick up a side professions that has scope for growth and matches my skill set of being detail oriented, enjoying to a certain extent people interaction (not a whole lot though). I was looking at few things like certified immigration prof real eastate agent insurance agent finanical planner which one would people suggest I pick based on my background th
What jobs are available in the Education field besides teaching? I have a background in IT development and project management and am looking to make a career change. I'm interested in doing something related to Education, but do not necessarily want to teach. What other options are out there? I am willing to get additional training, so please don't assume I need (or want) to use any of my technical skills.
What type of career should I pursue because I am miserable now? I have been feeling miserable in my current position for quite a while now. All the time, I get yelled at, made fun of, and made to feel second-class. Now, I want a new direction in life. The problem is that there are very few technical positions in my region, and moving away would mean that I would lose any emotional support I have left. It seems that whenever I come up with an business/entrepreneurial idea, it's not practical (aka don't have education, it's technically not possible, etc etc). All I have is a basic biology bachelor's degree, am 20 credits away from electrical engineering degree (can't finish that because of required senior design course that wants me to make TONS of presentations IN A SUIT to impress departmental donors), and I'm exploring civil engineering now. I don't have many skills beyond the degree, so what can I do for a career, given that I don't like social situations?

What career is right for me? Electronics Technology? HVACR? Something else? I've been having trouble choosing a career path for the last few years. I have an AS in general studies, but I can't decide what I want to do now. I want to go back to school and continue my education. I like working with my hands, and I'm told I have an eye for detail. I'm not crazy about math, though. I looked into majoring in electronics in college, but only two people signed up for the classes, so they were canceled. I'm looking into attending a technical college nearby, and they have a few electronics programs. I'm just not sure what kinds of careers are available in that area. They also have HVACR training, which looks interesting too. Again, I'm just not too sure what is available in these fields. I want a career that has at least decent pay; enough to live comfortably on. And something that won't require me to work 50-60 hours a week, every week, like I've seen my parents do way too many times. I'd also like something that's not the same exact thing day in, day out. Thanks.

I already chose my classes for next year..one of them is Thechnical Theatre, because I'm interested in that field. but my question is, what other classes should i take to help me in that career?, is there training or training schools in this kind of career once i get out of high school?, what colleges or universities are there that will get me a degree in this career?. ..... I need good information and sources, maybe somebody can tell me what websites have this type of information......HELP! I NEED ADVICE.
How can I find out if a career in biology is right for me? I am struggling with my current career in education and am interested in doing something more technical, hands on and removed from a lot of people. I loved biology as a child and did plan on becoming a doctor, but now, with a BA in psychology and an MA in early childhood and special education I find myself unfulfilled. I've been looking at a number of careers and they are all in the medical - healing area. I'd like to do something in biology (except teach) but I do not know if I can take another 2 years or more in school. The career tests I have taken do not really suggest anything remotely interesting. Can anyone give me a list of possible careers I can look into that are biology related (but NOT teaching or being a doctor or nurse)? Or maybe you are working in the field and enjoy what you do and can pass some info along? Thanks for your serious replies. I'd like to hear from someone who is working in biology who can provide a brief description of what they do. Thanks for the list though

What is a good major for someone wanting to work using Japanese language in administrative/business capacity? I currently work in as a work study administrative assistant in an International Education office at a technical college. I want to work in something close to this but with higher pay. I am passionate about the Japanese language and culture, and I am great at speaking in front of other people, office functions, writing grants, etc. What career options do I have, and what kind of major/degree do I need to pursue them?
Other than college and military, what are my options after high school? I do not want to go to college because I can't afford it, and my grades aren't good enough for a 4 year university. I also DO NOT want to attend a technical school after high school. I'm completely against joining the millitary. What are my other options? I'm about to be a senior next year. Should I drop out, get a GED, and start looking for a job? I really have no hobbies, or career interests. What are some well-payed careers that require no college education?

Technical college curiosity? Would going to a technical college which is regionally accredited, and offers associate's degree when what I would like to do is have a career in computer-related fields, such as a computer networking person, things related to those fields? I do want to further my education by getting a bachelor's degree, and maybe focus on master's eventually, since the credits can be transferrable?I keep reading mixed reviews on how terrible a technical college is compared to community, or that it does not matter but what I choose?
Technical Training for K-12 Teaching? Hello - I tried asking this question in the education section but received vague responses. I am curious if any former K-12 Teachers have switched careers from public teaching to corporate training/technical training. I am currently a high school computer/business education instructor with a plethora of technical expertise. Sadly, my school finds it of no use and only wants to target "No Child Left Behind" standards. What are some similarities and differences between the positions? Working conditions? Expectations? Are you earning more in your salary? Opportunites for growth? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

Nursing as a career? Right now, I'm entering my senior year of high school. Ever since fourth grade, eight years ago, I've "known" that I wanted to be a band teacher when I grow up. It's been my dream all along, and everything I've done has been music oriented. (Class selection, etc.) Well, I was visiting my mom in the hospital today. The idea of being a nurse as a career came up. I learned that they make about twice as much money as band teachers, get to be selective with their hours, have much more job security, and don't require the massive amounts of med school that doctors would need. All of this has me thinking that I might just want to bail out of my music dreams before they even get started. Basically, anything that you could tell me about being a nurse would be appreciated. How much education would I need? How much technical/medical know-how do different nurses need? How much money do the different levels of nurses make? What are your experiences? What do you see the pros and cons as being? I've made B's in GT Biology, GT Chemistry, and Physics. As of right now, no science classes are on my schedule for next year. I could probably do better, but I've been practicing music three hours a day... I'm a guy, if you think that makes a difference. I'm going to look into being a shadow at a hospital for a week or two over the summer, but do you have any advice on anything else I can do?
Has anyone received an education from an online Tech. University?? I'm attending a state college right now, but I find that my education is turing out to be an endless route to a career that I'm not even sure will guarantee a steady pay to live off. I was looking at information from a technical university (one of those colleges you usually see in the commercials on public TV during the week). I'm actually quite intrigued and wondering if maybe there is a better path for me out there. I looked at information on a degree in medical billing and coding. I'm just wondering if these online univerisities offer valid, reliable degrees? Are they just as good as getting a degree from a on-campus state university? And if any of you have already received your degree in such a way, are you satisfied and have you found it easy to find a career? I think talking to someone who has actually found success this route would sway me better than talking to an advisor trying to pull me into their online school. ANY info is appreciated. Thank you!

Technical School Tuition help. (parents have bad credit)? I'm plan on attending a technical college, locally here in Louisville. But, I have a dilemma. My parnets have bad credit, so they can't co-sign a loan for me I mean they would, but would be inevitably declined. I can't help that my parents have bad credit. The good part is that I work for UPS, and they cover up to nine grand of my tuition, which brings the total to thirty-one Grand. I have always wanted to attend this school. I'm seeking a career in Network Security. I'm 19 years old, so, I can't take a loan out by myself. If there isn't any other way, I will ask my grandma or aunt, to co-sign for me. It isn't fair that my parents are holding my education back, just because they had hard times. What can i do?
How to switch into IT career? I hold a diploma in Banking and Financial Service. I have no interest in the financial section. Ok, I knew I have chosen the wrong course and wasted time and money. I have been doing all sort of admin job for the past 7 years and I hate admin jobs. (Ironic eh?) But there's nothing else I can do. I am thinking of starting all over again by going back to school for a dip in IT. Do you think this is a good idea? I prefer technical stuff than interacting with people. I am also worry how should I explain my career switch at interviews in the future and should I include my past working history and education (banking and finance) in my resume? If I don't, then how do I explain the vacant period? I need some real good advice.
WRONG! UOP is regionally accredited, what do you think North Central Association of Colleges and Schools is? I am not saying it is a good choice or anything but people keep saying it is not regionally accredited and it is! This is from WIKI but you can find the info anywhere: "Regional accreditation: Regional accreditation is considered the standard accreditation for the vast majority of public and private universities: Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) Middle States Commission on Higher Education New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC-CIHE) Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (NEASC-CTCI) Commission on Technical and Career Institutions North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA-HLC) Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC-ACCJC) Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (WASC-ACSCU) Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities"
What is the easiest way to become certified in education so I can teach in NYS? I currently hold bachelors degrees in Math and Physics and a masters degree in electrical engineering. I have been working for a large corporation for about 2 years now in various roles and I am seriously contemplating a career change. Most of my friends from college are teachers and I have always considered that as a career but never bothered to obtain certification. What are the steps I need to take in order to obtain certification to teach at public schools in NYS and how can I do this without having to take too much time off from working or forking over tons of money for another degree? I have been told that with my degrees and technical skills I could get a job at a school as an assistant and they would pay for me to get all the education classes taken care of. I also heard I could teach at a charter school or private school to get experience while getting certified but that the pay is not as great. Please advise if you feel you can provide any valuable information.

How do I get my foot in the door with Broadcast Journalism? So I go to a Career and Technical Academy and I major in broadcast. But I want to get into the real world and experience things first hand. I want to go to the actual news stations and watch the newscasts take place. I want to talk with people and see what kind of advice they can give me. Basically, I just want to be able to take my education about something I'm really passionate about a step further and learn from another source. But how do I even go about this? I don't have any connections whatsoever, so I don't know what I can do? I just want to "get my foot in the door". Any suggestions?

Please answer as detailed as you can. Thanks :-) How old were you when you left your education and what year was this? What stage or level did you get to in your education? What were your best and worst lessons throughout your time in education? Was it compulsory to wear a uniform throughout your time in education and what did it included? What was involved in disciplining during your time in education, in both primary and secondary education? What tests and examinations were compulsory, in both primary and secondary education? Which do you feel were the best or the worst? What kind of education did you go into after your primary education e.g. Grammar, Secondary Modern, Technical? Were you prepared for 'life' when you left school? Do you think that kids today are more or less prepared for the 'real' world when they leave school?
Career Question??? Okay I am going into 11th grade. I am going to a technical school for Allied Health/Sports Medicine. As long as I could remember I wanted to be a nurse and nothing else. Now that i am getting older I am still really interested in nursing but I found some other fields that I think I would like. For example Physical Therapy. And I am also interested in Early Childhood Education. But i would have to say that i am more intersted in the medical field more than anything. I was wondering if you are in any of these careers could you help me out with what schools are good for those and what classes you took. How long you were in school for. what you love about it. How you decided to go into that field of work. Thank you so much for all of your help. you don't know how much i appricate this. By the way I am interested into going to college in Pennsylvania, Montana, South Carolina, and Washington.
How can I land a new job (even an interview), trying everything!? I have over 10 years of experience in the IT industry (NOT programming like everyone automatically assumes; technical services) and just got my MBA and PMP cert last year. 8 years as a colleague at a huge reputable company w/ good experience and references. Despite all this, I can't get a new job or even any interviews despite trying. I've tried: the job boards (Dice etc), my network (asking friends family current and former colleagues), trying to find recruiters/headhunters, hitting company job boards directly, even my college's alumni career site. Nothing. All I get once in a while are crappy offers for temporary consulting gigs, usually in different states. I thought given my experience, education, certs, the industry (IT) I wouldn't have a hard time at least getting interviews, but nothing. Yes the Tech Services side of IT isn't as hot as other areas but still. My resume is fine too. What is going on? I am getting fed up, been at this for months.
question about education? what does itt technical school offer in the criminal justice program like what careers does it help in

What kind of job of can I get that pays good and has to do with technical things? I'm still in high school, but I've been thinking of what I want to do for the rest of my life. I'm taking some tech education classes where I can weld and work on small engines and use machinery. I want a job that pays good and has to do with something like engines, welding and electricity or machinery. I also want a job that will pay a lot as I progress through my career. Like being able to be paid $80,000-100,000 annually after working for 10 years. Any thought?
Why did you choose the branch(es) of the US military you serve(d) in? This may or may not be slightly different than previous questions posted, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I know there have been various reasons given to join this branch or that branch (Air Force has the best technical training, Marine Corps has the best camaraderie, etc...). I'm not here to debate whether or not those distinctions are accurate. I'd specifically like to get some feedback from those in the armed forces as to what went through their minds during recruitment as they made their decisions regarding their future in the military. Feel free to comment on any of the following: basic training, education, pay, career advancement, pride, family legacy, travel opportunities, physical requirements, or anything else I missed. I don't presume to have included all the considerations. Also, how does your experience in the service compare to your expectations before enlisting, with regards to the factors that influenced your decision to join your chosen branch?
could you refine these sentences please ? I have always aspired to choose a career that would mean work that really stimulates me and holds a natural appeal for me. The first and the simplest emotion that we discover in human mind is curiosity. My curiosity in Industrial Engineering has evoked during my summer internship at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam which provided an initial acquaintance with the various facets of process improvement and shop floor management along with the practical application of optimization theory as applied to the production line. Upon interaction with my Professor, discussing my internship, I was introduced to the science of Industrial Engineering. Subsequently as a member of the Indian Society of Technical Education I attended various workshops on Operations Research, Engineering Management, and Production Management among other subjects, which further engrossed my interest in Industrial Engineering – a field of engineering that I aspire to study and explore.
Would this broaden you and your career outlook? Let us say that three years at a community college is paid for. You earn two associates degrees (just for the education not really for the edge in the competitive market place. Remember it is paid for). Now, before you decide on transferring to university you decide you want experience. So, now you go in as a pharmacy tech or some technical helper for a few years to gain lab experience or the like. Now, you have matured and grew as a responsible adult and decide to get a bachelors or masters degree. You know what it takes to get there and do it without wondering if it is a waste of time.
Higher Education Help? OK, I am wondering what sort of career option I should look into. Before I do a University Degree on it. Mainly just looking around, so don't be afraid to voice any type of course, or anything. Interests include: - Architectural drawings - Computers - Software - Programming Am good at: - Maths - Drawings (not artistic though, more technical drawing sort of stuff) - Moderate knowledge on computation Anything along those lines would be great. So if you know of a good subject that I can take a look at please state it.

Making photography my profession means proper education........where do I go??? Hi all! I've been looking into photography schools in my area (Cleveland, Ohio) and all I can find are 2 options: a) INSANELY expensive and time-consuming colleges (i.e. The Cleveland Institute of Art) that offer 4-year programs. That would be great if I was 10 years younger and didn't have 3 children. So that's not an option. or b) technical schools that offer one day per week/4-week amateur courses for $99 that are taught by some yahoo off the street who has no idea what he's talking about. There's got to be something in the middle that can help me turn my hobby into a career. I was looking into my local community college but I'm afraid I won't be able to afford that either. And even that is a 2-year course with prerequisites and all of that. I'm so confused!! What should I do? I need some advice from people who have been there. Thanks! I still owe money on a student load I took out 6 years ago......I don't think I'll qualify for another one.
For High School Students? Do you as a young adult in High School feel to much attention and emphasis is placed on college and not enough on vocational/technical? Do you feel if more emphasis was placed on education for a career/trade immediatley after high school there would be less drop outs or students who do not care? Seems to me when my daughters were in High School all I ever heard about was what students had to do for college etc. Counselors spent all their time with the college bound. Do you feel if you are not going to college schools should be doing a better job preparing you for the working world. I've always felt the Junior/Senior year should be geared for college prep for those planning to go OR vocational/technical for those who do not. There is no reason a young adult should leave high school and not at least be involved in a trade if they are not going to college. Seniors ARE adults and if not properly prepared for a decent trade after graduation then they tend to drift into and out of jobs. How many students are informed how much an Auto Tech, electrician, miilwright, machinest, etc. make.
Air Force Question! Please Assist!? I am considering joining the Air Force. Before I do, I need to know from people who are there, whether or not you think this is a good move. I just don't want to feel like I've wasted 4 years of my life, doing something that will not benefit me in the long run. First of all, it seems like the USAF is mostly for people seeking a technical career. I want a degree in English and I am minoring in film. I know the Air Force will pay 100% for my education and also that they will give me money when I leave if I sign up for the GI bill. I need to know what field pays well when you leave and is in high demand and what jobs are good for women to succeed at after leaving, if you are only there for a short period of time. I may stay longer if I like it, Most people seem to enjoy it and benefit from it alot. I am currently 24, so when I get out, I'll be 28. Most people go straight out of highschool. Do you think this may be for me? I was going for financial and educational reasons.
For conservatives: a question of policy? As a follow up: Would you support a politician if his policy position included the criminalization of abortion but also mandates a 15% mandatory increase in federal taxation to support state-run orphanges/academies. Foster care programs, overidden with abuse as they are, would be ended and the state would take direct control. For orphans or the children of convicted criminals, this would be the first alternative. Curriculum would include academic courses of study and vocational/technical courses of study. For interested applicants, paramilitary training could also be integrated into their education for law-enforcement/military career aspirations (e.g the Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts etc). Would you support that? "I've never heard of something so authoritarian. You might as well make them into slaves." This is authoritarian but forcing women to bear children that they do not want to bear isn't? The vast majority of incarcerated criminals come from low-income homes with non-existant family structures. Being imprisoned for crimes "duly convicted" is the exception to the 13th Amendment's prohibition against slavery, the exact text of which is: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." So then, we already enslave them...don't you support politicians who promise to be "tough on crime?" What do you think about "Three Strikes" laws? The model for this hypothetical politician was Adolf Hitler. The hypothetical program was a loose description of the Nazi War-orphan's program which eventually became incorporated into the larger Hitler Youth program.
Should I change careers (again) from Real Estate to Teaching? It's time for another career change, but I'm terrified of making another mistake. I'm in my early 40s. Been in Real Estate for the last 4 years. The market was much better when I started, but even then I never developed the skills or even the desire to do it for the rest of my life. I was in IT management for 18 years prior to RE, and got totally burned out. The pay was much better, and certainly more consistent. However, I have no real desire to return to IT. I've always considered teaching, but never pursued it. I have a masters degree. I've done a lot of technical and also IT training and even RE Training. I think I would enjoy teaching on the college level, or perhaps even doing training full-time (without travel). I live in the DC metropolitan area. I need a way to research the higher education field before I jump in. I have no idea how to get started. I need a mentor who's currently doing this type of work, maybe someone working at a local college/university.
Do felons have a chance in the Business World Today? Since I could not complete the crimianl justice program. I have pursued my career in Business Office Technolgy and I have one class to complete to graduate. I wan't to stay in school to further my education now that 2007 has came out and now is offered at West Central Technical College. I will continue to futher my education until I receive a Office Job or be even more blessed to help troubled teens. Yes I have thought about writting a book, but I don't know how to go about doing this. Belive I have a truel life story to tell and no doubt that it would be a success. I am also Bipolar, and if not on medication could mean alot of trouble. I was diagnosed with Bipolar after I was incarserated. I have had only I bad episode in over teen years and I never want to experience it again. I had to drop 2 classes this quarter, but I kepy one. I was not going to quit totally like my doctor suggested, because then I feel I gave up and success does not come from quitters.
I have a felony on my record for a 3rd degree arson charge. I want to return back to college..? To continue my education. I am running into the problem of finding out what careers I can still do. My passion in live is Nursing.. but I understand that may not be an option right now considering the vunerable adult act. What feilds can I still gain employment in that most technical colleges offer. I would consider and enjoy a career in cosmotologey (however I'm worried about the manager licensing part, would this pose as a problem) I would also ove to go for nursing if there was a way. I want to return this fall though if I wait now.. I will more than likely never return.. so what careers can someone with a felony still do as a career?

Right now I work for a engineering company as an inside technical sales rep. Any hints or tips on what career would help me or where I should be finding them? Newspapers and online career sites aren't cutting it! Thank you!

What Degree Path to take: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Teaching? I started my career in the Electronic field. With a 2 year degree in Electronics. I worked for a fortune 500 company for many years and worked my way into Process Engineering as a Technical Support Engineer without the BS Degree. Unfortunately the company moved a major section of its company to China. Now I am looking to either further my career in the same field but no luck finding a Job unless I have a BS Degree to back it up. With that I found that my 2 year college education is not usable because it is to old. These past couple weeks I have been working with a University and found I need to take the entire 4 year course to obtain a BS Degree. Now I am down to determining what it the best BS Degree to take in relation to seeking employment that will stay On-Shore (In the U.S.). I believe I have narrowed it down to Mech. Eng., Comp. Sci. or Teaching. Or may be even Civil, Structural Engineering. Can any one give an outlook on jobs in the U.S. or suggested degree paths?

Management Information Systems/Buss Minor or MIS/Comp. Sci minor? I am currently majoring in MIS.... should I continue to minor in business or switch to computer science? I'm into more of a technical field but I want the fundamentals of a business education. If I minor in CS I still have to take Business Core (act, mgt, fin) classes but not as many. I think I might have more of an edge with the CS minor? Will I? Career wise I was interested in Database Administration which minor would probably be best? Which minor will give me the technical savy and more money?
Will I not get a good job if I have a low GPA? I'm currently getting a BSEE. I really love electronics and I'm happy to bring myself to study the subject and anything related to it, but I have a hard time focusing on the things I'm not interested in such as: Economics, Research methods, and many other general education courses. I have good grades in subjects such as Technical Calculus, Technical Mathematics, and any electronics course. But when you look at my GPA, the bad seems to outweigh the good. Does it mean I want find a good jo.b or have a successful career? I'm a little discouraged by it

what wrong with this? What is wrong with this? CORPORATE TRAINING Jill Smith Axia College of University of Phoenix Corporate Training Today, managers need well-trained employees and are finding they do not exist. Corporations are providing additional training for their employees. One such training program that is being added to corporate learning environments is an awareness of emotional intelligence. Business managers are learning that successful managers need high Emotional Quotient (EQ) or Emotional Intelligence (EI) to work effectively. Emotional intelligence is the ability to accurately perceive emotions in self and others, to identify different emotional responses, and to use emotional information to make intelligent decisions (Goleman, 2000). A leading expert on EQ finds, “people good at managing relationships tend also to be self-aware, self-regulating, and empathetic” (Goleman, 2000, p. 33). Emotional intelligence is especially important “at the highest levels of the company, where differences in technical skills are of little importance. In other words, the higher the rank of the person, the more emotional intelligence capabilities are needed for decision making effectiveness” (Goleman, 1986, p. 94). Emotional intelligence is crucial to a successful business career and for effective group performance (Goleman, 1986). The core competencies required for emotional intelligence are “the perception of emotions in one’s self and others, the understanding of these emotions, and the management of emotions” (Feldman, 2001, p. 4). Success in the modern workplace requires teamwork and collaboration. Emotional Intelligence training is essential because most modern companies rely on teams of employees working together, rather than on the action of individual managers working in isolation (Ganzel, 2001). Several accredited universities are delivering EQ training in hopes of preparing their students for the workplace. Grossman (2000) states: A current trend in education is to teach students about how their emotional intelligence can have a positive or negative effect on their career. Many universities are now offering courses in interpersonal relationships and emotional intelligence in an attempt to prepare students to be leaders. Leaders cannot lead in isolation, and an educational delivery system that features team building and collaboration is growing by the numbers. (p. 48) Emotional intelligence skills are a crucial component for a successful career in business. We live in a time of rapid change and in a world of diversity. The modern business environment requires managers to have highly functioning intrapersonal, interpersonal, and group skills. Emotional Intelligence is important today and will be even more important in the future. As more employees master emotional intelligence skills, a higher functioning group emotional intelligence should emerge. In response to this higher group EI, individual employees will need to keep refining their EI skills (Tucker, 2000).
Technology careers (Cisco)? After doing some research for possible careers, I have landed upon I T, but am having a hard time finding information. For example a Cisco Engineer, My technical center at high school has one (able to get a basic level certification) But what the program information fails to menion is anything about what an cisco engineer actully does. What does an cisco engineer do? What would a typical day be like? What are the education requirements? Are they in demand? Are they reasonably well compensated? What are there hours? Thank you for your time. The link to my School's website is below. http://www.chesterfield.k12.va.us/Schools/CTC/

Double major, science and liberal arts? Hello, I'm currently a Psychology major in my sophomore year. I'll be a junior this coming spring and will turn 21. As I've learned more about different fields and career paths, I'm starting to consider doing a double major in Computer Science, with Psychology or Philosophy, which both greatly interest me. The reason is that I've realized how much more opportunity I'd gain by having a science/technical degree. I'd like to double major to still get a good old classical liberal arts education as well. I could start the Comp. Sci. classes next semester and get rolling, and it would take me a good while to finish. I might be 23 or 24. In some ways that bothers me, as I feel like I should be trying to get through and graduate quickly. But I don't want to cut myself short. I really love science equally. ( And I don't really want to do counseling or anything like that.) I have a scholarship, and could come out owing very little. I know "it is up to me", but is it objectively worth it?
Can u edit my Staement of Purpose:? STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Purpose of Study & Professional Plans The boundless possibility of trying out and the instant knowledge of the outcome that stimulates one for further analysis of a rationale in question, is what I find most appealing about Computer Science. Keeping up an inquisitive and explorative attitude, I believe, leads to a constant learning process. This approach adds to the already immense potential for innovation that exists in this field. As I have been brought up in a family which has strong inclinations towards development, My father is a K.S officer, whose works for the development of rural areas and my mother is a Teacher and social worker, who has always worked for poor children. I have developed a fascination for science from my childhood. This inclination towards science was further increased by my active participation in science fair and seminars in my school days. I had a special interest towards science and appreciated its innovative ideas and I want to dedicate my life for man kind with the help of latest technological tool “Computer”. My penchant for science rightly guided me to take up the science stream at the pre university level from which I drew inspiration to imbibe the true spirit of Computer engineering. I took up Computer Engineering as my undergraduate major as it had tremendous potential to becomes a dominate force in this Millennium affecting all walks of human life. Also Computer revolution ushered in an area that heralded the beginning of an all round progress of the planet. As a student in the First year of undergraduate study for a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science, I look to graduate study to refine my knowledge and skills in my areas of interest. I believe it will also serve to give direction to my goal of a career as a research professional at an academic, research-oriented organization. I intend to pursue a BS degree in order to reach that goal. Academic Background In my undergraduate studies of one year as an AUPP (Australian universities pathway program) student, I have benefited from the breadth of NICE MMC College that has given me a comprehensive exposure to the core areas of Computer Science and a strong conceptual understanding of the same. In this year of study, I have strived to maintain an approach of expending independent effort in all my endeavors. Learning by me and sharing my knowledge with others has been most worthwhile, when comprehending a concept. AUPP is an Australian universities pathway program; I found it the best way of getting into a good university in Australia .As it is not only cost saving and time saving but it is also well planned. This route of AUPP aroused a desire in me to acquire a professional degree in Technical studies from Australia via AUPP. My quest for the right path can get me to Australia, a highly developed and technically advanced country, which has always opened its welcoming doors to deserving students of all nationalities. Truly it is land of academic opportunities the flexibility offered by its educational system is amazing. Excellent infrastructure, advanced equipment and conductive environment, where individuals Merits and abilities are given due recognition are the strongest reason for me to study in Australia. One person’s life influences the lives of an unbelievable number of people, one of the most important lessons I learned, being a student and ambassador of NIIT during my secondary level (11th and 12th standard). Working as the youngest ambassador ever of NIIT Kashmir turned out to be a confidence booster. It taught me that the basis for good work is self-reliance and very importantly, time management. Not all of my work was devoid of shortcomings. I learned to accept both criticism and praise with a positive frame of mind. My work involved organizing various events, that brought with them the opportunity to work and interact with various kinds of people. This was a distinctively gratifying experience for me, which I feel would stand in good stead in the future, especially in lieu of any teaching experience. In conclusion, I would like to add that the essence of University education lies in the synergetic relationship between the student and his department. I feel that bachelor study at Ballarat University will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be grateful to you if I’m accorded the opportunity to pursue my bachelor studies at Ballarat University and am able to justify your faith in me.
careers and working dead end jobs? I just got laid off from a $20 an hour job, wondering wether or not to go back to school and try to get out of workin labor and union jobs, but if i went back to school, I am not even sure what I would go into it. I am 24 years old and have responsibilities such as my apt, and other bills. I have no continued education and fear its too late to go back, and I am just seeking some opinions or something, maybe a 2 year technical school? I dont know, I worked with cars since I was 16 and gave that up, got into assembling Mining trucks and loved it but I cant deal with the constant lay offs. Can anyone share their experience or advice?
trying to decide which branch of military to enlist in...thinking of marines? Right now i am 23 years old living in PA and trying to decide within the next three months which branch to go into. i have been talking to a marine vet a and i like what i heard . I have a involvement in a lot of cardio exercises such as running, biking, swimming and lifting. i am six feet tall and 150 pounds. i love to do PT and want to go through the toughest boot camp. my recruiter told me that i can take up a career in computers and not have to be actually out on the front lines. i was told by many others not to go into the marines and to join the navy or the air force instead since they are more technical. i do have college credits but not a degree (probably about 60-80). some reasons that i want to join are the discipline, PT, extend my education and actually finish what i start, learn basic skills in the field, blow shit up, do my part in defending my country and many other reason. i dunno something about the marines just has me hooked
